Always a pleasure to see your videos. Thank you TH!! It is a great escape when I don’t really have the time to truly escape.

Thanks for that Scott, hope you'll find time away from the screen soon enough!

Quick tip on Blaser; you do not need to fully cock the action to be able to open the bolt, just put slight pressure on it (moving it 1 mm forward/up) and you will be able to safely open the bolt without having to risk a negligent discharge because of the cocked action when loading and closing the bolt. Even though I noticed that you quickly decocked - this is not the safest way to do it :) Nice shooting!

Hi Thomas, thanks a lot again for this video! Like all your long range shooting videos, I love all the informative content that you bring to us! This is awesome! I wish we had in France a range like yours to train, I might come up North ;) ! Thanks and can't wait for a new long range video :)

Thanks for that, glad you enjoyed it. It has developed a fair bit of shooting tourism to the southeast of Norway, range Sokndal.

THLR.NO thanks a lot for the info, this is a trip I'm looking into since a couple of years. Your landscapes are beautiful. I will let you know if I come by.

I like to run two notches out on my bipods to start with in the field . It just seems that it "usually" about right for most situations when prone. Cuts down on the set up time and if need to go lower the weight of the rifle and gravity helps you out with adjusting it down.
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. I almost never use the bipods at their lowest setting. Wish I could fill the nothes somehow and add lenght instead.

You are one SERIOUS shooter - EXCELLENT !!!
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
Emery Emond Thanks for that. I know I am lucky to be able to use this much time for shooting. I would really find and correct a mistake on the range rather then when hunting. Learning to shoot doesn't change the hunt (the deer still behave the same) but it certainly makes me a safer and more confident hunter.

it's very rare to find a hunter that respects the animals the way you do. thank you for that.

Informative as usual. Could you explain a bit more on the turret markings at 1:24? I understand the concepts, but trying to understand your shorthand markings. Seems like a great field expedient method.
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
scudrunner100 It will be repeated and explained again and again in future films. Numbers 1000, 1200, 1400 is shooting range. 5,10,15,20 is correction value for "1 significant" weather deviations compared to BDC values. For example, if laser reads 922 in weather (pressure/temp) that complies with my BDC calibration, I simply dial 922. If temperature and/or pressure deviates from that calibration, I add or subtract 5 from 922 and dial 917 or 927 depending on which way the bullet is pulled. I have intentionally set up my BDC so pressure and temperature deviations will work each their way and cancel each other most of the time. When compared to a ballistic computer the theoretical error in comeups is insignificant most of the time.
@scudrunner1007 жыл бұрын
THLR.NO Got it thanks. The number of "comeups" was different from the range increments but additional coffee this morning and a second watching made it focus. I do the same based on DA but the top of the turret idea I never thought of. I scribble mine on tape in the scope cover and/or keep a dope card in the stock pack. When does your hunting season begin?
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
scudrunner100 Now that I've verified my data, I laser engraved the numbers. Looks much nicer.

Hehe jo det där var "clear enough"👍. Enorm skillnad! Det är alltid nyttigt att träna så som man praktiskt behöver kunskapen/färdigheten sen i fältet på exempelvis jakten :) Mycket bra i vanlig ordning Thomas!😃👌

THLR.NO Tack själv!

This range is really nice, all the trees around and the changes during the year are nice. Regarding the exercise, lately you have been using one particular tripod, in the past they were other models, any reason?
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
Claudio Tenreiro Are you referring to the tripods for the cameras or the bipod for the rifle?
@claudiotenreiro31117 жыл бұрын
THLR.NO I refer to the one in the rifle.
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
Claudio Tenreiro Ah ok. It is just that I am happy with it and am currently not interested in exploring further bipod variations. One exception: I'd like to try a Elite Iron and see what that does.

Hi Thomas, I don´t know the way you calculate the "significants" for each caliber. Sometimes the step is 30mbar, other 50mbar and the same with the temperature ... how do I calculate for my caliber?
@THLR6 жыл бұрын
That is a fairly long explanation and it is explained at lenght here vimeo.com/ondemand/langhallsskytte2. Look in the bonus material, "vaderkompesation" (weather compensation). But the shot Version you are doing the wrong way, you decide what you want your significant step to be (for example 10 celsius change), calculate what that means for the BDC and then find the matching hPa number (for example 30 hPa).

Thanks, this is the 300 Norma Magnum. Shoots 230gr bullets at around 900 m/sec.
@jeremycumbee7037 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, have you shot a 308 Norma Magnum? It seems you are fighting the recoil on the 300 compared to your 6.5x284 Norma. thought it might fall in between the two rounds😀
@THLR7 жыл бұрын
No, for all practical purposes it is a "dead" cartridge. It will still be in the "more" recoil department. I think the solution would be one of the 7mms with the new high-Bc bullets. Considering how much more managable a 300NM has been for me over the 338 Lapua, I suspect dropping another 40-50 grain bullet weight to a 7mm will be equally good.
@cratxn17 жыл бұрын
Good analysis and over time your eyes ( specifically your retinas ) will appreciate less recoil as you age. Ditto your ears. G7's 7LRM is a wonderful new 7mm but not likely a round you nor Blaser will have access to. What are your thoughts on the Blaser 7 Mag ?
