Putting a hook up or mounting a bin on your garage wall to either hang or store your reusable bags might help be a visual reminder for right before you leave when you pack the car!
@Islandtyme3 жыл бұрын
I always used to forget to take my bags back out to the car after I'd put away my groceries. Now, I stack them on the counter RIGHT by my front door and I make it a habit to grab them the next time I go out the door. Even if I'm just taking out the trash or checking the mail it whatever, I take 'em out with me and put them back in the car. You could hang them right on your front door knob too. It's a good system!

I hope this helps clarify the reindeer :) Santa's reindeer were first named in "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (better known by its first line, "Twas the Night Before Christmas") in 1823. In the original printing, the final two reindeers' names are Dunder and Blixem, which are Dutch for "thunder and lightning." In an 1844 printing by Clement Clarke Moore, who is credited as being the author, these names are changed to Donder and Blitzen.> The 1949 song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" calls them Donner and Blitzen, which are German for "thunder and lightning." This is how they're most widely known today.
@corgiking36073 жыл бұрын
for the donder thing: "The commonly cited names of the nine reindeer are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and Rudolph, although Donner is sometimes called Donder and Blitzen is sometimes called Blixem." Source: Wikipedia so take that as you will

In Australia the seasons all start on the first! I always thought it was strange it doesn’t start till the solstice in other countries. Apparently we use the meteorological definition of seasons not the astronomical.

As someone with two kids and TEN TONS OF LAUNDRY, we have five laundry baskets, three full size and two small. We do laundry and sort it (large - me, my husband, and linens etc, and small for each kid) and then EVENTUALLY we put it away. We do laundry about 3x a week, and put it away...every two weeks? Roughly? But it's easier cuz we can dig through our individual baskets if we're looking for something. My kids are 2 & 5, and both enjoy sorting laundry. It's a good tiny-kid chore.

Love the vlog! ☺️ I was curious about the spelling of the reindeers in the book, so I tried to find out why it had a different name. I thought it was a misprint (which would explain why it was in the discount bin haha), but it seems that Donner’s name used to be Dunder and Blitzen used to be Blixem. I never would’ve guessed! Anyway, stay safe and I’m excited for the 12 days of Christmas.

Looking forward to 12 days of vlogmas! Thought I'd pass along a tradition we did with our kids. We collected holiday theme books for a few years, wrapped them up and opened one a night for Dec. Before we had enough books, I'd borrow some from the library. We ended with a silver wrapped book which was Twas the Night before Christmas, and a gold wrapped book which was a special Xmas book (but for the life of me I can't remember what it was! My kids are 18 and 21, so it's been awhile...) The kids loved it cause they got to unwrap something every day, and it was perfect for some cuddles during storytime before bed.

12 days for vlogmas is perfect. So many people do vlogmas, and as a viewer I'm much more likely to watch them if there isn't one every day. Daily vlogs is just overwhelming since there ends up being so many videos in my subscription feed.

It’s actually Donder (Dunder). The original names for Dunder and Blixem were in Dutch but were changed to German, Donner and Blitzen, in later reprints of the original poem. The translate to thunder and lightening. The more you know…..lol.

When the Christian church set up the calendar, they dragged the seasons away from their traditional start times to unsync the calendar from the Pagan ceremonies related to the change of the seasons. If you start winter on November first, Halloween makes sense. If you start spring on Groundhog Day, the 6 more weeks makes sense. And then summer starts May first and fall August first and Midsomer makes sense.

In the original print of A Visit From Saint Nicholas (the original title), 2 of the reindeer were named Dunder and Blixem (the Dutch word for Thunder and Lightning). Over the years the names were changed. Blixem was changed to Blitzen to rhyme with Vixen in 1837 and Dunder to Donder to bring the spelling more in line with English pronunciation. It is unknown when the spelling of Donder was actually changed to Donner, but it has been documented in the 1906 New York Times newspaper print of the famous poem. *There's a lot more to this, but this is the condensed version of the name change.*

I always thought that a new season started at the beginning of the month, but I learned a couple months ago that it starts somewhere between 21-23 days into the month, due to the different environments. So some states have a longer winter due to the altitudes/elevation levels, such as Colorado and Utah, where as others don’t really have a winter, such as California due to the environment with the oceans and beaches.
