@sandys6379 @Spie_Mia, I've been seeing a lot of people upset about the election, but I really think if you knew the truth, you wouldn't be so upset. Traditional media has been doing so much fearmongering, creating all these false narratives, it's actually insane. Like how many times did Harris mention Project 2025 when Trump has disavowed that so many times? They have been lying to you. I've been a democrat my whole life, I literally cried in 2016 the first time he was elected, but I realised these horrific lies they were spreading a few months ago when I started doing my own research. I really encourage you to do the same.

Many people have already mentioned him and it’s not urban fantasy or romantasy, but Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite fantasy authors! Interesting world building and fun unique magic systems. The Mistborn series is a great starting point as lots of people mentioned, but if you want a more approachable option to test out if his writing style is for you, I couldn’t recommend Tress and the Emerald Sea more!

Phew! Finally someone who isn’t into ACOTAR like me! I am also a firm believer that if a book doesn’t grip me within the first 5 or so chapters. Then it’s not for me. Nor do I go off others saying “it gets better!” …mostly cause I have so many other books on my tbr that I’m happy to put one down that I’m not interested in and actually invest my time in those that do! Ah. I just love reading. I am currently reading If I Have To Be Haunted by Miranda Sun. It’s light fantasy placed in real world…sort of. The concept is interesting and I’m enjoying it! Also….girl. I also had stopped the ACOTAR and fourth wing after the first book. But I wanted to recommend this adorable real world fantasy series that started with “Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries” I finished the first two books and preordered the third book! It’s a really cute series so far. The main character is a fairy researcher and it’s definitely a slow burn but not spicy romance. I feel like the writing style is really unique because it’s from the perspective of a researcher and written as her journal. I listened to the audiobook for both and the narrators are so good!

I learned this from an ex that worked with clothing manufacturing they lay multiple layers of fabric then cut the pattern so the first few layers will be a smaller fit and the end bigger but will all will be marked the same size that’s why you can try on two different items in the same size and ones bigger and one smaller but they will both say ‘large’

I really think more women should learn to sew. I started learning August last year and its been a gamechanger. I sew most of my clothes now except soft hard and timeconsuming stuff like jeans and jackets. But its amazing to be able to mend well loved clothes I already have, fix a fit issue in bought clothes as well as clothes i make myself, and create the exact thing i want in my exact measurements and proportions and with the perfect color, print, material and fit I want. For example if someone has shorter limbs so the lenghts of items are off, you can just shorten it in like 10 minutes. Like when Sierra tried on the white bodysuit and the sleeves were too long. It literally takes a basic sewing machine with a zigzag stitch (for stretchy materials) or a twin needle. Nothing else.

This hurts my heart a little because I LOVED Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows. I never cry while reading but I was absolutely sobbing at the end of RV. I think it helps that I had to wait a full year after reading DR before RV came out. I also met the author Rebecca Ross (who is SOOO SWEET) and she explained about her writing style which she describes as “exploratory” and I think knowing that REALLY helps you understand her books better. She didn’t lay out a plot before writing, she lets the characters take her along she story as she goes!! Also it is a YA book so you have to keep that in mind for the complexity and themes. I gave both of them 5/5 stars and maybe you can reread them again one day and love them more!!

My favorite urban fantasy series has been the Mercy Thompson series - it’s been going since like 2006 or something, with largely standalone stories that feel more like tv seasons in that there’s good progression of the characters and over all world, but the stories are pretty self contained. It’s a really fun werewolf/vampire/fairy world with lots of politics between how those groups interact and fit in with the human world, a FANTASTIC main character, and a great romance that’s pretty slow burn over multiple books and never takes over the entire story. Highly recommend!

5 books/book series I've read, that I definitely would recommend. 😊❤ 1) I recently finished the 4th book in Darcy Coats' "Gravekeeper" series. It is a easy read and I love the characters and worldbuilding. 2) Victoria Schwab's "Gallant" (one book). Another easy read, with a fascinating world. 3) I highly recommend Michael Scott's "The secrets of the immortal Nicolas flamel" series. If you like fantasy in a morden setting, with a touch of histoty and mythology, and don't mind it being more of a "teenbook". 4) I loved Neil Gaiman's "The ocean at the end of the street" (one book). It's easy to read but such a well written book! I listened to a audiobook-version which ended with a interview with Neil Gaiman, about the book. 5) Adam P. Beswick's "The levanthria series". It is a 'traditional' fantasy series, set in a different world than ours. Each book is telling parts of the same story, but they each have a different maincharacter. So you see events from different angles.

Just finished reading The Institute by Stephen King, I’m not into horror so this Stranger Things-esque book was perfect, and I read it faster than I’ve read any book! Kept my distracted attention every time I picked it up to read!

A good low-fantasy that crosses to sci-fi is The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown. A good historical fantasy series is the Daevabad Trilogy by Shannon Chakraborty. And actually, the author has started a new historical fantasy series which is a ton of fun called The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. A more low fantasy/mystery hybrid is Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young. These may be more up your alley since they’re not just straight fantasy, but mixed genre fantasy books.
