@@SierraSchultzzie I have not finished the video yet (3.5 minutes in) but I absolutely LOVE your positivity, both of you! I decided to get into running when looking at the fact that it will optimize my fitness and weight loss long term, and then I had a dream that me and my best fur baby were running around playing in a park (he passed in June, 17 long wonderful years with my baby). When I woke up and realized he never got to do that with me, I said to myself “I’m going to learn how to run a 5k and I’m going to take a fur baby with me! So, now it’s personal.

I am so proud of you! Thank you for sharing a realistic and safe approach to starting a running journey. So often we see those online jump from nothing to running a half marathon without proper training/injury prevention which is so dangerous for others to emulate. I really appreciate you sharing the importance of building up to longer intervals safely!!!

Whenever I feel like I'm stuck, I usually watch your peleton video, so I'm glad to now have a new video to throw into the mix. I’ve been waiting for this video!! Mostly so I could leave a long thank you comment. I’ve always hated running and I really got into working out this year, but never running. You inspired me to go on this journey with you, and I wanted to thank you. I’ve never felt so in tune with my body before I started this. My boyfriend is an avid runner, but he had never ran a proper race before so he joined me on the race. We chose a race that landed on our two year anniversary, and it was so much fun for both of us. I was immediately emotional at the start of the race because I was so damn proud of myself. We did it!!

It's amazing how strong your body can be and yet how much our emotions can make our workouts feel terrible. Just a part of life! It shows us how much human work we still have to confront outside of our physical struggles. SO glad you gave up the gym for running outside! Even if the run is bad, looking at trees, hearing birds, noticing the sky/ weather are consolation prizes that make it feel worth it!

I went from feeling as though I'd never be able to run for more than one minute straight to now, when I've completed 3 races including a half marathon! Girl you just made me cry. About 14 years ago I did this and that was the start of a journey that eventually led me to triathlon after two years into running I decided to learn how to swim, yes, learn. I was not a big girl yet I was 42. At age 43 I did my very first mini sprint triathlon and that was the start. I just loved it and progressed through the years to a sprint distance, Olympic, half Ironman (doing half marathons and a marathons along the way) and loving every single goal reached and feeling the positive impact this made into other aspects of my life. A month ago I went after a 9 month hard preparation for the ultimate goal for a triathlete: my very first full IM, a 2.4 mi swim followed by 112 mi bike and a marathon. I failed. I could do the swim, the bike and after 14 km of the run I pulled off, couldn’t go any further, I was crushed mentally, up to this day can’t understand what happened, physically I could have walked / jogged but mentally I just couldn’t push myself anymore. You might be thinking: and what does this have to do with me?, seeing your video made me remember the joy I once had doing what you just did, like wowww 5’ non stop running was like conquering the Everest for me at the time, and it was great. Now even after 12 hours of non stop swimming biking and running I feel so depressed because I couldn’t get to the finish line, like somewhere sometime along the road I forgot how to enjoy what I once loved and don’t know anymore how to get that back. Congrats for your achievement and thank you for sharing.

This has really inspired to get back into running!! I played soccer and did cross country all throughout middle/high school and kept up with it occasionally in college, and then in my early 20s starting developing some joint/nerve pain out of nowhere when I ran and so I stopped. I’ve definitely put on weight since and every time I’ve tried to run I can physically feel how much harder it is so I get discouraged and quit. The mental toughness is what makes running the most difficult for me now. For the past few years I’ve mostly focused on strength training and low intensity steady state cardio, and lots of walking. I feel like I’m at a place where I want to make time for running again so I think I’m going to do this program!!! Congrats on all of your progress it was amazing and inspiring to watch!

So even though we mostly walked it, I was very proud of her and happy we got to experience it together. The training for it also taught me that I don't actually hate running. After a rough break up I impulsively signed up for a 5k run/walk, and because it took away the pressure of needing to run the whole time, it was the first time I ever enjoyed running in my life (I’m sure it being a pride event on a nice trail helped too ofc). Now 5 months later I’ve done another 5k run/walk, and I have a month to go before I run a 10k. You really inspired me to try and do this as I’ve often THOUGHT about it. I hate running. I always have. I’ve sat back and thought about how at school we aren’t ’taught’ how to run, but you’d never throw a kid in a pool and expect them to swim (I can swim far far better than I run!) And so I started and today, I’ve just run for 28 minutes!! Can’t believe it. I still hate running, but I love how it is making me feel afterwards!

I feel like what's making this motivational for me is the fact that you aren't focusing on losing weight. I've struggled with being underweight my entire life basically and I'm now at the highest weight I've ever been. Most times when i see people talk about running, they're talking about losing weight and it makes me feel like running isn't something i can do unless i want to lose. I'm slowly working mentally towards working out. I have access to a gym at my job and my roommate also has a gym at his work that I'm allowed to use so trying to get to a point where im comfortable enough to use them.

I was so excited for this video - so so fun to watch and follow along with your progress! How cool! One note is just that it was hard to read the timestamps in the corners, and for someone with low vision it would have been nice to have a bit of narration during the runs just so people know what’s happening in the clip for accessibility purposes. But overall just such a fun video!

I started running for the first time at the beginning of this year and just ran my first half marathon last weekend! I definitely learned that so many things can influence your runs! How much sleep you get, what you ate for the meal before your run, the temperature, the humidity, how much sun there is, your personal stress level, etc. my worst run in training was my 6 mile taper 2 weeks before my half. I was bawling my eyes out at mile 2.5 because I really felt like I couldn't do it and I really felt like shit and my goal was way to fast and I wouldn't be able to reach it. When it came for my actual half marathon, I ran it 7 minutes faster than my goal which was crazy! All that to say, yes, some runs suck, but you can definitely do hard things!

Congratulations Sierra!!! I don't know why I started tearing up seeing you finish the 5K. My 5K is coming up in 2 weeks and I am still at the 23 minute mark. I hope I can finish it running too 😃

I really want to run and train for a 5k and I’m so glad I found your video! I’ve run 13 half marathons and 2 full marathons in my early 20s and had to take a break for 6 years while I fully recovered from an eating disorder. I am looking into easing back into running in a healthy way and my body is so so different and it’s daunting. I feel encouraged after your video!! ❤

Love this!! 100% agree that running outside is the way to go if at all possible. My husband will run outside in the dead of winter here in Canada to avoid the treadmill 😂
