First quality playing as usual, Sietze. Some of us are already acquainted with this organ through the playing of Wim Stroman many years ago. With organs of this antiquity it must be difficult to place an exact date on their beginning. I was of the impression that the choir organ of St Laurens Alkmaar slightly pre-dates the Oosthuizen instrument.

It was Wim's KZbin movies that first properly acquainted me with this wonderful instrument. The Alkmaar choir organ does indeed have an earlier confirmable date but several Dutch organs contain ranks of great antiquity, the 15th century pipework in the Groningen Martinikerk organ being just one example. What a mecca for the lover of ancient organ sounds the Netherlands is!

Het Purmerendse orgel is rond 1735 vernieuwd door Garrels, maar die oude pijpen uit 1550 zitten er nog steeds in.
