Tulsi makes the point that even sages understand that any other path, including the path of ascetism, is of little value compared to the rewards that pure bhakti can reap. This thought is interesting since Shiva himself is often regarded as the Great Ascetic, smeared in ash with a garland of skulls around his neck and capable of long periods of meditation and abstinence. But here, Shiva is himself saying that ascetism or Yoga are of little consequence in comparison to the bhakti marga ( path ). Tulsi seeks to emphasise that bhakti to Ram is not only for conventional rewards in temporal terms, but for its transformative ability to make a person acquire greater joy and equilibrium. It liberates a person from the opposing polarities of joy and sorrow, prosperity and adversity, attraction and repulsion, and from the cycle of birth and death. Thus, in Shiva's iconic ode, Ram is the great liberator, who both emancipates and transforms a devotee, provided the devotee fully surrenders to him. His powers are unlimited; his benevolence is boundless; his joys are unblemished; and, his transformative influence is for the creation of a better human being, better prepared to lead a life of bliss and balance.

It is to be noted that Shiva's praise for Ram is fully reciprocated. Ram, too, is a worshipper of Shiva. In fact, elsewhere, Ram says specifically that he is against anyone who does not revere Shiva. Thus, the legacy of Shiva is subsumed by the worship of Ram, and the adoration of Ram is incomplete without praise for Shiva. Both these deities become two sides of the same coin of devotion, and if Shiva accepts Ram as the Supreme Lord, Ram too believes in the divine omnipotence of Shiva. Devotion then moves away from man-made compartments to a larger bathos of total surrender, of which Shiva and Ram, given their mutual love, become joint icons. Reverence is showered on Ram not only because he is the supreme deity, but because he uses his powers of benevolence to dispel the darkness of pride, ignorance and attachment. For human beings caught in the mire of attachment to objects, he is a deliverer. Thus, there is, in his divinity, a strong ethical character, which has the power to influence a devotee towards goodness. Secondly, redemption from him is guaranteed only to those who unconditionally surrender to the grace of his lotus-feet. Those who refuse to do so are condemned to live in the cycle of sorrow and sadness. Thirdly, it is this bhakti which is the most efficacious path.

Political foul cry on Imbalance in wealth n poverty ? Why no action till date on Land Ceiling Act ? Can’t you link Aadhar , Land Records and Bank A/c that will facilitate effective execution of land ceiling Act n avoid hundreds to thousands of Acres land held by individuals n few . Why allow mass migration into TN ? Why not hold inefficient political parties n officials for their failure to develop their respective states ? GO enforcing All land holdings ( pvt or public ) to plant n maintain Trees ( every 10 Feet ) on their respective frontage n give tax credit . GO to maintain 5% of land holding as pond / water catchment will help water table .
