fight sports, that's interesting you associate chi sau with attacking. for me it always thought me about sensitivity and how to answer an attack, as opposed to initiating. you can't attack really without breaking the connection, so once I sense your breakage, I react. you almost ask to be attacked if you initiate the attack, it's interesting. ultimately I think people bring their own temperament to chi sau, which can be pretty revealing

The purpose of chi sao is to sense the opponent. See it as a strike coming towards you. Upon reacting to that strike coming to you, it is chi sao but with split second contact, which initiates the attack from you to the opponent. So yes, chi sao so to attack. It’s always been training method to gear us to doing just that.... to counter an attack at we attack.

It’s not done twice. The sections are made into slow motion. Not everyone is suited to common knowledge... common sense, unless a person is exposed to it. Hope this clarifies things for you 👍🙂
