I do love the Sigs, have not used the image stabilizing ones but have used their LRFs and LRF Bino’s for years. Unfortunately they have proven to be less then reliable. I’ll skip my previous 2 warranty claims and just skip to the recent. In late August this year one tube on my Kilo 3k’s fogged up, I sent them to Sig and they returned them immediately saying there is nothing wrong with them. I get them back and within 24 hours the tube is completely fogged again and I am dumb founded. I sent them pictures and returned them yet again. This time they quickly replaced them with new Kilo 6k’s. I am happy and going into my 1st rifle season hunt in Colorado truly happy as they are great bino’s. Well after 2 days of scouting and 2 days into season, the focus knob on my less then a month old pair of Bino’s broke. I cannot focus on anything past 10 yards. Have to completely waste a day hiking out and finding a local outdoor store on a Sunday to find not only new bino’s but LRF as well. Completely unacceptable for a product to be this unreliable. While I know Sig will replace the broken Kilo 6k’s I don’t know if I can depend on them enough to use for future hunts.

Why did you go with 16’s versus 10’s? I’m a big 10 guy but it seems like with the Zulu’s, most, not all, people prefer the 16’s

@@tomascardenasgin 42 mm objective, there is the 12x and the 16x, and contrary to regular binos, both have exactly the same field of view of 3.8 deg. So there is no point of having the same FOV and just seeing it smaller, thus one should get the 16. The one difference is the size of the exit pupil which is larger for the 12x: 42/12= 3.5 mm vs 16x: 42/16= 2.625 mm, thus the 12x maybe brighter at low light if one’s pupil gets bigger than 2.625. Now the 10x is a 30 mm objective, thus gathering less light than the 42 mm. For hunting in low light 42 mm will be better.

What would be the advantage of a 12 power and would be good for bow hunting out of Treestands?

We'd say the glass quality is very similar between the two brands. Both are quality optics.

Are y'all going to go through their product line? As an Oregonian, I had no idea sig optics was in my backyard. I worked near the Leupold campus in Beaverton so I was loyal to them until the I discover Leica Swarovski. Their tech sounds super interested.

I got Zulu 6 HDX 16x42 a week ago and here are my findings after using it for couple of days. PROs: - low volume, slim profile, extremely lightweight for 16x (only 21.9oz or 621g), awesome futuristic design - best-in-class Image Stabilization (3° Correction angle vs. 2° for Kite APC vs. 0.9° for Canon IS) without artifacts - IS is totally silent (good for hunting, birding, surveillance), 1 AA battery lasts 30h vs 3-8h for Canon IS - best glass in its price-class with ED & HT glass and no observed CA at 16x - 61° AFOV, 2.65mm exit pupil, 4m close focus (I measured 3m) are sufficient for most applications - totally waterproof IPX7, non-slippery surface, scratch resistant lens coatings, love FDE color - infinite guarantee (repairs and replacements at no charge), 5 year warranty on electronic components vs. 3 years for Canon - zero eye fatigue after prolonged use, beats all non-stabilized alpha bins in terms of resolution handheld vs. handheld - perfect for hunting, travel, cruises, general nature, surveillance, bird watching, plane spotting, handheld astronomy, sport fishing, etc. - can be easily used with one hand only CONs: - no proper lens caps, carrying case could be of better quality, better fit & matching color - new "Target Mode" is really rock-steady but image gets a little bit less sharp compared to "Scan Mode" - metal rings on the neck strap may produce loud sound when hitting sides of binocular

Very well put together comment. IMO most people don’t even care about all these specs but they are sooo important. I would like to see a little more light transmission and a bigger exit pupil on the 16 x 42s.
@OldelCpt

@@AllThingsZzone cannot change physics, exit pupil = 42 mm/16 = 2.625 mm. For larger exit pupil either select larger objective or less magnification.
When you have a very capricious child 😂😘👍
