Guys, while it's true that the G19 is favored by many SOCOM troops, the Mk25 is still in service (the military doesn't just dump things off on a whim). Our point is that Sig's marketing team seems to remind us whenever they bring up the Mk25. Anyways, it's Josh's tendency to shoot the Gucci'est of Gucci pistols, so I am doing my best to find some other specimens to add to our testing. A crime locker Hi Point is one firearm that I am trying to find for Josh to test. -Henry

The Glock 19 is called MK27 and is actually a gen 4 M.O.S. version with a threaded barrel (look it up at nsn now: 1005-01-658-1930). They would probably pair the MK27 with the Trijicon RMR type 2 adjustable LED 3.25 moa (recently released as the HRS Version). Probably also good as a concealed weapon, which can be fitted with a suppressor, if needed. I think it would be cool if you guys would make a video like this with the MK27 as well.

The cameraman is correct st thr same time SEALS were having slides crack on Beretta M9's they also had P226's frames crack. It was due to the ammunition (Winchester I believe) provided what was basically proof test loads, that in conjunction with the high round counts already on both guns caused the failures. Beretta took in the slides, tested them and it was not their fault. Unfortunatley by this time their reputation had been tarnished, so they sued the military and won a defamation of charater suit. The military made the change to the M9 on the hammer pin so that it was keyed into the slide, that way if there was another failure the back of the slide didnt injure the soldier. This was all done at the militarys expense because the problem wasnt the fault of the Beretta M9. Both the M9 amd the P226 are my 2 favorite handguns, I do shoot the Beretta slightly better, but the difference is maybe 1/8th of am inch. I have tried polymer handguns, I just dont care for them, and I always come back to the M9 and P226.

Love Sigs. My 229 logged god knows how many miles with me in a 20 yr career. Stock grips and everything. For awhile i had 2 jobs, so it got shot that much more. Went through 2 sets of night sights. Think i replaced the recoil spring once. It easily has 8-10K rounds through it, or more. It even tolerates crud well. I prmurposely did not clean it after the first day of a multi day training. I was up at 400-500 rounds before it hesitated to go into battery. All i had to do was nudge the slide forward. A quick wipe of the chamber and feed ramp area took care of things until i cleaned it that night. I swore by it, and never had to swear at it. It is in honorable semi retirement now, but i make sure it gets a little exercise at least annually. In 2005 i bought a used 228 to have a backup to fit yhe same holster, in case something broke. It never did. I like the 228 as a training gun when i teach people to shoot.

@vvill71093 жыл бұрын
there's a lot to he said for the ergonomics and how they relate to the shooter. I shoot a P226 noticeably better than any other handgun other than a 1911. Something about the way it is shaped just agrees with my hands. I have the stock 80s style grips on it but I think I will go for something with more aggressive texturing. The size doesn't bother me but they are a bit too slippery.

Regarding parts breakages in military use, one should keep in mind that NATO specifications for 9x19 are made with SMGs rather than pistols in mind. CIP ("Euro") standards for 9x19 are hotter than SAAMI standards and NATO ammunition is even higher pressure than that, so the military is effectively running all of their pistols with nothing but +P+. And then going through thousands of rounds in training on each one. E. g. the USP was originally designed for .40 S&W, so it's pretty beefy already, but the German army still had slides cracking on their 9x19s before they switched to an updated, reinforced model. Cool video by the way, came over from C&Rsenal and I'm liking what I've seen so far. :-)

A suggestion for watching these runs on the close range: focus on one screen or the other for the full run, then, re-watch the run with eyes on the other screen, instead of trying to look back and forth. There's immense value in seeing both angles, to see how the gun is reacting and what the shooter is doing...but we agree, trying to keep up with both screens at once can be information overload. We've played with just playing them back to back, but it really disrupts the flow of the video. Appreciate the comment!

9-Hole Reviews I have nothing against anyone's preference in handguns.. I just feel like my Gen 4 Glock 23 is perfect for me.. Regardless of anyone else's opinion on it or the .40S&W, I absolutely love my Glock... I love mine so much that I plan on getting another one after I get that new High Point C9 when it comes out.. My Glock is OD Green which I like.. I want the Black or Battlefield Green Glock 23 G4 next...
