I've seen a couple of vids on the gun and it's common to hear it referred to as the 'budget Sig'. It's just a difference in the cost of machining aluminum alloy as opposed to forming a polymer frame, not a difference in quality of the pistol. If the SP2022 was an all metal gun, the cost would be the same as a P226 or P229.

So after now after over a year of carrying and competing with it is so much more than a good gun. This pistol is freaking awesome. I’ve swapped the trigger for a amory craft flat faced dual adjustable, swapped for a DPM recoil kit and cleaned and polished the internals. It hammers and is a great flat shooter. Absolutely love my SP2022 so much more than a “night stand gun”

I bought mine just over two years ago. Mine is the two toned stainless with night sights and I paid $399.99...no tax since I spent cash. My first ever hammer fired handgun and I love it. Through muscle memory, I've trained my finger to squeeze the trigger to what feels like a wall when I shoot it in double action. Phenomenal handgun!

@K.M. Smith I was in the right place at the right time. And to think, I was there to purchase a Gen 4 Glock 19 for $499.99. Everyone was busy helping other customers and I just so happened to be looking in the Sig Sauer case when I was offered help. It was the least expensive Sig in the case and I asked to hold and dry fire it. I bought it and from that moment on, Glocks became obsolete. Now I own six Sig Sauer handguns and zero Glocks. Nothing wrong with Glocks. I just like Sigs more.

I have two P320 Compacts...one fde and one black. I switched the slides on them and bought fde mag base plates for the one with the fde slide. Also in my Sig collection is my P320 X-Compact, P365 XL and the P229 Legion. And to think, it all started with the SP2022 when I almost purchased a Glock off of namesake.

So with all this crap going down, my sp2022 9mm been my edc and I absolutely love it. The way I get away from printing is a shirt over a t-shirt and I’m good to go. I have a heavy duty belt so it does not sag. Reason I chose it over anything else is because of decocker. I’m 6ft 175lb so I don’t have a problem it digging in to me. Only time I have to put it aft of my hip is when I’m on the motorcycle. I carry it inside of my belt but outside of my pants. I would definitely recommend this gun if someone is considering of getting one. Never had it jam, I took a whole bunch of different ammo loaded up the mag and it did fine with no problems. I have about 750-1000 rounds through it, zero stoppage. Hopefully this been helpful.

Looking for one now. Appreciate the comments on the effects of 115, 124, 147 grain ammo. I have a p227 SAO Legend and the 365 X Macro. I've been running 115grain only. I'll have to try different grains to see which one runs better for each pistol. Finding a SP2022 is like pulling teeth with tweezers right now. Used to have a p320c but sold it. The p320c wasn't any better than the cheaper compact I have. Ironically, I shoot my $299.99 Stoeger compact better and more consistently than the p320c -- and they are the same size pistol. Amusingly, the Stoeger has a better trigger. LOL

Great gun for the money. However, 147 grain ammo generally have less recoil than 115. Every competitive shooter knows that.
@BuckeyeBallistics
@BuckeyeBallistics 3 жыл бұрын
I guess I'll have to start competitive shooting then so people will take my observations with merit. I've shot thousand of rounds of both, but I guess competitive shooting somehow makes your word law over anyone elses because anyone who doesn't compete is apparently incapable of interpreting recoil impulses.
@bdoc2333
@bdoc2333 3 жыл бұрын
@@BuckeyeBallistics 9 mms are designed for 124 grain. 115 is more common because its cheap. Gun powder is cheaper than lead. Its snappier and has more recoil because it generates more energy. Because Kinetic Energy is equal to mass x veocity squared. 147 grain, is not only softer because it moves slower and thus impacts kinetic energy more, but generally less powder is used too because the slighter larger bullet takes up more space inside the casing. Thus, 147 grain and certainly 150 grain, generally is softer than 124 or 115. Its just science. I have in my hamd a box of federal 150 grain rounds. Muzzle velocity is 890 ft/sec. The energy is only 264 ft-lbs. The standard 115 is is 325 to 350 if I recall. Less energy, less recoil AND the power factor is 133,000. Thats the win in competive shooting....highest PF with least amount of recoil. You can't 3 people that agree with you yet thousands of competive shooters know this.
@BuckeyeBallistics
@BuckeyeBallistics 3 жыл бұрын
Go load a muzzledloader with 100 grains of powder and shoot a 200 grain bullet, then load it again with 100 grains of powder but with a 300 grain bullet and tell me which one kicks more. Done this many times and the 300gr bullet kicks *way* more. I don't need you or anyone else to tell me what I felt. Put a heavy bullet on top of the same powder charge and the heavier bull *will* produce more recoil. You just stated that 147's in a 9mm have less poweder... well yeah that's not what we're talking about buddy. We're talking about the same powder charge for each bullet and that the heavier one will recoil more with the same powder charge. I already stated, in the other comment with the other individual that you obviously read, that if a 147 had less recoil, then it was because it had less powder; no crap. But if you put a heavier bullet on top of the same powder charge, you will get more recoil because of the physics I explained in the other comment, which is why my muzzleloader thumps so much harder with the 300gr bullets. There is nothing to debate, I have experienced it first hand. Go grab yourself a cheap $100 muzzleloader from Walmart or wherever or borrow a friends and try it for yourself...
@bdoc2333

@bdoc2333 3 жыл бұрын
So I will say again, nosler loads for 147 grain is almost always softer than 124. 124 is softer than 115. This IS NOT HARD. Every skilled shooter knows this.

Never owned one; on the to get list one of these days. I do admire the older guns being built better. I just got a 1964 JC Higgens Sears Roebuck 30-30. Current production 30-30's have trigger creep and aren't as accurate as the older ones because they are produced with looser tolerences. Also the metal and bluing on the older guns is much better. They simply wear and show patina rather than rust to peices like the new guns do. It's sad that to get quality like that today, you have to spend over $1000 to buy a premium vendors example of whatever firearm you seek. Then when you spend that kind of cash on a peice, the last thing you want to do is take it into the field hunting. If I ever get a used S&W wheel gun, I'll have to remember to get an older one...

Sig Sauer 226 question - is it a good idea to keep a first round as a blank cartridge to prevent accidental discharge of a live round? I am considering doing this so that I don't have to manually rack a live round if in a confrontation or threatened. I am reluctant to keep a live round in the chamber. A blank round would automatically chamber a live round, right?
@BuckeyeBallistics
@BuckeyeBallistics 4 жыл бұрын
That's going to be a personal preference thing right there friend. But that first shot might be the only one you are able to put on a moving target in a self defense scenario, so the bad guy might getcha. Also I don't think blanks have as much recoil as a live round, so I would think you run a good chance of causing yourself a malfunction that way. One way to find out though- test it. But I still wouldn't personally carry a blank for the first round even if it did work. You might only get one shot before the perp shoots you...

@@madmovyman Welcome. In all honesty though, that's the advantage of a hammer fired weapon: you can carry one in the chamber more safely because it is a double action trigger for that first shot with the hammer down, unless you pull the hammer back. You could take safety a step further by getting a weapon with the grip or trigger activated safeties, in addition to it being hammer fired.
@michaelgoldman1433

Sig Sauer P226 is perfectly safe to carry with one in the chamber and then decocked, They have a firing pin block that keeps the hammer from striking the firing pin if dropped that won't allow the gun to be fired unless the trigger is pulled. The British SAS as well as the navy seals always carry cocked and locked with the Sig pistols.

Some want it and some don't- most manufactures offer both options. The idea behind not wanting a safety is because if you forget to take the safety off when someone is shooting at you, it may cost you your life. Or even if you remember, the half second it takes you to to flip it off could result in the same scenario. It's the same debate as carring one in the chamber or not. Personally my carry guns have no safety and one in the chamber ready to go. A proper holster protects the trigger until you draw, and also a lot of modern pistols have a "trigger safety" to also aid in declining the likelyhood of a negligent discharge- not to mention training and practice help as well.

News flash....147 has less recoil then the 115 generally.
@BuckeyeBallistics

News flash? No, what you say even defies basic physics. The heavier the load, the heavier the recoil. With an identical powder charge, a heavier projectile will produce more recoil, as more powder is burnt in the barrel before it exits the barrel due to it taking *longer* to exit the barrel because it is heavier, which results in more pressure and thus more recoil. Like I said, it's basic physics AND has been my experience from shooting 100's of thousands of rounds over the past 20+ years. The amount may be negligible, but it still goes against basic physics to say a heavier bullet recoils less. I can see by a quick google search that people are all over the place on the whole more/less debate in relation to bullet weight, but that is the physics. Some people perceive recoil differently, which is why opinions are all over the place. A lighter round may sometimes give more of a "snap" recoil feedback, which many people will *perceive* as more recoil, wheras a heavier round may give more of a "thump" or "push" recoil feedback, which some may or may not perceive as more recoil. To some, the thump feels like less recoil than the snap. The snap may produce more muzzle rise because it is a quicker motion, which would be exacerbated by poor grip. But more muzzle rise doesn't necessarily equate to more recoil; it's just the way they are percieving it. As I said, the physics are that a heavier round with an identical charge will recoil more. More gunpowder will be burnt before a heavier bullet exits the barrel, and the burning powder is what gives you the kickback, obviously. So obviously the more powder that burns, the more kickback you get. And it's obvious that more of an identical powder charge will burn with a heavier bullet, so there you go. Perception and reality do not always align... How do you like that news flash?

@@BuckeyeBallistics Sorry. Not the way it works. Kinetic energy is equal to 1/2 M x V^2. So as the bullet gets heavier the speed increases proportionally which then impact energy and thus recoil by the square root. This is why competitive shooters (like me) use 147 and 150 grain 9 mm ammo over 125. Nice try....but you are wrong. 7th grade physics.

Mind you the above assumes the same power load.

Oh, oh heavens me, are you now? Yeah, and I'm Batman. Do you know how many people on here constantly claim to be this or that and coincidently *NEVER* have a single video to prove a damn thing? "Master level competitive shooter" lmfao. Clearly a laughable self evalaution at best. You're just another keyboard warrior who wishes they were a somebody, give me a freaking break dude. And your link is about MUZZLE ENERGY of a PROJECTILE and it's stopping power, not recoil; so I don't know what you think you were proving with that. You have literally proved nothing and haven't even contributed to your own ignorant agrument. Sending a link about a complete opposite subject and saying basically I should believe you because of your self proclaimed bs credentials. Stfu man, I'm not going to waste another minute of my time arguing with a moron...
