Beautiful work, all those fine details on the edges of the fractures are beyond amazing. You could almost convince me that some of these scenes were just filmed instead of being simulated.

I'd like to see this simulate an airplane crash. Most CGI crashes don't accurately show the twisting/stretching of the aluminum skin.

Interesting results and very nice visualization. Does the traditional MPM use linear interpolation functions in the simulations? Are there some specific fracture criteria, or is it inherent to the constitutive model?

No. Rabbit, armadillos, dragon etc are famous free scanned meshes ( graphics.stanford.edu/data/3Dscanrep/ ), available for all science purposes. That is why they used so often. May be, they become memetic for years.

how long did these take to render and what hardware was used? Nevermind, in the video! Intel I7-8700K with 12 threads (assumed 12 software threads) Cookie: 1.67m particles, 634.5 sec/frame (10.5 minutes to simulate a single frame) CRABS: 0.918m particles, 96.8 sec/frame (~1.6 minutes per frame) Watermelon: 1.75m particles, 313.4 sec/frame (~5 minutes per frame) Pumpkins: 1.02m particles, 176.7 sec/frame (~3 minutes per frame) Octocats: 0.690m particles, 17.6 sec/frame (~4 frames per minute) JELLO T-REX: 1.43m particles, 538.8 sec/frame (~9 minutes per frame) Fence: 1.45m particles, 175.2 sec/frame (~3 minutes per frame) Armadillo: 8.27m particles, 118.3 sec/frame (~2 minutes per frame) JELLO TWIST: 7.79m particles, 548.6 sec/frame (~9 minutes per frame) BREADS: 11.5m particles, 331.7 sec/frame (~5.5 minutes per frame)
