Have you ever thought of putting a GoPro on the bed and just watching them spawn... Find the biggest bass in the place and just watch it? I think that would be really cool.

Geez what a nice area with visible beds! I literally force fed one a jig TWICE while it watched me but missed the hook both times! Had to come back the next day and try again after it settled down. I hid out of sight and left my line over a branch so I could dangle it on the bed for 5 - 10 mins until I finally got him!

Got on my first bed fish yesterday. Hooked her with a jig but the pond is full of moss and algae, got wrapped up and popped off. Came back a while later, hooked her up again and she came off. Made me sick. Didn't have much time left so I just kept going. I literally caught this fish three times in under 10 minutes on the second round, and finally brought her up the fourth time in total. Can't say much for her intelligence, but I'm glad she let me have her for a minute. Safely released back to her spot. So resistant to get her picture taken 😆 When I'm on a bed I just can't give up. A sense of accomplishment when you finally pull it off. Honestly, most bedfish I have gone after they have been looking right at me. It's not impossible. You just have to piss them off enough times I suppose and be aware enough to pull the trigger in that one second window you get when they try to sweep it off the bed
@TyPigPatrol9 ай бұрын
argh! at least you caught her! congrats on finally sealing the deal, crazy how aggressive some of them can be when they are protecting a nest!

Ty, Have you ever tried fishing for catfish with a bass jig (or jig head) and a piece of cut bait (crappie or bluegill head/tail)? I've tried this a few times on summer nights when the fish were being somewhat finicky. Using a very aggressive and erratic jigging action, I've caught numerous Channel Cats that angrily hammered the bait. I've even done this with cut bait on a Carolina rig. I think the combination of scent and action sometimes causes reaction strikes. You have to be ready for violent takes. The fish usually hook themselves, but you need to hold on tight to prevent the rod from being yanked out of your hand. Even a 4-5 pounder can surprise you, especially in the dark.
@TyPigPatrol9 ай бұрын
I have never tried that! I wonder if the channel cats go crazy at night in this pond. it is crazy seeing them on beds like I did in this pond, and them not biting, I have even tried a hot dog on the bed, they don't touch it!
@twinjacob19 ай бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol Maybe they're just interested in stealing fish eggs right now. When the catfish are spawning, the males will guard the nest and get pretty aggressive, including hitting some bass baits. Thanks for all your great videos, buddy!
