I’ll never forget the first time my parents took me fishing, this was the late 80’s and we went to a little millpond nearby and my dad insisted that me and mom stood away from him a ways cause we were too noisy and going to scare away all the fish. He had an old Zebco reel with the button on it and as he made his very first cast he pushed the button and his whole reel flew off the rod! 🤣🤣🤣 my mother and I laughed so hard watching him have to pull all his line in by hand until it finally ran out of line and he was able to get his reel back 😂 I don’t think we caught anything.

Lost mine almost 2 years ago. We didn't get too many chances to fish together in his last years since he was dealing with cancer issues, 1 kidney, and lived over 800 miles away. If only to have our dads for 1more mighty nice fishing trip like this one, ehh? 🥲

They're all that we get to take with us. I live in Florida and I love fishing culverts and spillways. Those are great videos. The ones with your dad are the best. Thanks for the content keep it coming. All my love to you and yours.

How blessed you are to have this time with your Dad. My grandfather showed me how to fish. My Dad hated fishing, which represented just one of many ways we were disonnected. Now, only one of my three sons likes to fish, so I have to work to keep connected to them in other ways. I hope you two have lots of time together.

@ArmchairDeityАй бұрын
Lots of bluegill species mate at the same time of year in the same habitats, so you’ll get situations where there’s cross-contamination between eggs and milt from 2 species. Pumpkinseed, bluegill, redear, and greens. Greens are like small brightly colored bass… mean, angry little fish. You can spot a green sunfish hybrid by the fact that they’re shaped like a normal bluegill, but they have mini-bass-like mouths and generally show a phenomenon called “hybrid gigantism”.

I regularly catch giant bluegill, far larger than anything I see KZbinrs consider "huge" - but that thing in the thumbnail is massive! Even his forehead is fat 😂 Mine are usually orange and blue when they're big - I think they're males. Edit: My dad taught me how to fish when I was three years old - it's one of my oldest memories. But he never really liked fishing; he'd go with me, sometimes, when I was little, but he was more into driving the speed boat and visiting with friends down at the park when we'd go to the Lake. Fishing was just a "me" thing lol But I'm gonna try to get him to come out and catch some fish this year.
