I was an audience member with several friends in Los Angeles in 1982 getting ready to listen to YES, who were headlining that night, when this song came on over the speakers. People were saying things like, "What is this song!" "Who is this?" "What an incredible song!"

If you watch this documentary sequentially this is the turning point. "Thank You for Sending Me an Angel" you have a strong suspicion that this ain't no ordinary concert footage. However, when you get to this you realize your witnessing something wholly unique. The word breathtaking came from somewhere. This whole show is a shot to the solar plexis without the pain. I just forget to breathe.

Ok, saw them in Phoenix during this tour, or about this time, and, first off, let me say I had no idea what to expect. When they did this … THIS!! … and more!! One of the greatest live shows I have ever witnessed!!

I saw them in Berkeley on this same tour and I never expected the GREATNESS that was to come for sure that night! They did Burning Down The House during the show but then did it AGAIN for their encore which was so fun!

Stop Making Sense was shown at a theater on Harvard Square every Friday, midnight in the mid 80s. When I moved to Boston, only thing I knew about Talking Heads was this song, a regular play on the radio. I pretty much checked out of rock/pop music when disco became popular in mid to late 70s so I totally missed New Wave in general and Talking Heads in particular. A younger friend I met in Boston took me to see Stop Making Sense one Friday night. I was overwhelmed. I went back to the theater at least 10 more times (probably much more) often by myself. I bought the DVD a decade later and play it for all my guests who have never seen it. I haven't met one person who doesn't at least like it if not love it. And the movie just never gets old. I watched Sight After Dark react to the entire movie (song by song) and enjoyed every minute (after seeing the movie dozens of times over the years).

Depends what you mean by "big". BDTH is almost certainly their biggest _commercial_ success. OIAL may well be the biggest artistic success (or possibly The Great Curve...).

total crowd pleaser. the wiki for this track, from 1983, ... hell, i'll just copy-paste it here: "Chris [Frantz, drummer] had just been to see Parliament-Funkadelic in its full glory at Madison Square Garden, and he was really hyped. During the jam, he kept yelling 'Burn down the house!' which was a P-Funk audience chant, and David [Byrne] dug the line, changing it to the finished version, 'Burning down the house'." Bernie Worrell from P-Funk finally comes out for this one. those trippy "aliens are landing, the mothership has arrived, we are the aliens, you in the audience and we on stage, all aliens together" keys and effects. a year later, 1984, the iconic "The Roof Is on Fire" by Rock Master Scott & the Dynamic Three came out as a single. i mean pretty much everything was on fire. even ten years earlier in the Psycho Killer track the lines go, "I can't sleep, cause my bed's on fire." clearly there's a fire issue. never stop moving.

🤔 It depends on the sentence. "I played the Talking Heads 45's on CBs jukebox." Or "I got my Talking Heads ticket". 🤷🏿♀️ I've always used both. 🤔 Now I have to ponder the question. 🐰

Hate to say, my least favorite Talking Heads song. Played way to much on radio growing up and in some movies.
