Kaitlyn, Remington and Pacmyer both make excellent recoil pads that will take that kick down below a 30.06. You may have to trim your stock if it feels long already. They are about 1” thick but well worth it. Keep the videos coming, I love them. Best of luck.

I love it. You have expanded my vocabulary "Cattywampus" is my new favorite word. I am glad you did not get someone else to sight in for you, I've seen that go wrong so many times. Too bad you do not gun (rifle) hunt much. I can see how it would not be worth it to change to a setup with less recoil. I had to do that because of muscular degeneration. If that rifle's length of pull was not so long a recoil shield would be a inexpensive temporary solution. They worked great for me after surgery. Thank you for your great (and honest) videos.

Thank you for your positive feedback and understanding of all aspects. Most people are so quick to criticize me when they don't think of the reality. The gun was a gift so youre right, not worth changing when I am capable of shooting it and I'll mostly bow hunt anyway. And I didn't even know I said cattywampus until I rewatched the footage 😂😂

Great job sighting in. You hung in there. The rifle is beautiful. I think it may be a little too much recoil for you though. A 270 win or 6.5 creedmore would suit you better. I have owned very nice rifles in large calibers before and I always end up eventually getting rid of them because I just didn't shoot them because I didn't like getting pounded by them when I shoot them. Watch yourself in your videos of you shooting. You do not need to get hammered like that shooting a gun. Your body weight is just too light. Well, that is my personal opinion anyway. I love watching your videos and look forward to seeing your rifle hunt. That is my neck of the woods as we say up here in Maine. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Bullet placement is always key, whenever I shoot at an animal such as a deer I aim for the middle of the shoulder, I never aim for a heart shot, you hit the middle of the shoulder and you will never have to track an animal ,,, I shoot a 30.06 with a 165 trophy bonded or Federal Premium Nosler ballistic tip,. Cheap ammo is just that it is cheap, spend the money and go with higher-quality ammunition always ! Good luck on your Antelope hunt, don't forget to look up the ballistics chart for the gun and ammo that you are using so you will know what the actual drop and windage is for that ammunition in that weapon,. Good luck and I can't wait to see the video

7Mag is a lot of gun for a young lady. May I suggest that next time purchase a recoil shooting pad or a folded up small towel makes a great recoil pad also. A lot of frustration can be taken out of the formula by placing the heel of the buttstock on a couple of sandbag. that will eliminate barrel wobble. You did ok. I was impressed. What a gorgeous rifle that 700 is. Sweeet.

I can sight any gun in with 4 shots sometimes 1.. get a solid rest, make sure you are on the bull...shoot, then put the scope back on the bull, while looking through the scope, move the crosshairs to the hole... you move your aim point to the hole, not the other way around.. so simple

Great choice of flat shooting caliber, but a bit on the heavy side in regards to recoil, that being said, initially there was no real discernible flinching which is the most common symptom to overcome after a long lay off and a bit of padding interspersed between butt and shoulder would have largely negated the growing discomfort as in hunting mode presumably you may have been wearing a coat of some kind and invariably in the heat of the moment taking the shot, all discomfort etc vanishes with the adrenaline rush, which manifested itself as we already know, by your achieving a great shot when it mattered and an excellent prairie goat on the deck, a great achievement, so rifle shooting skills right up there with your bow merits sincere congratulations on the way you’ve tackled everything. Hope we get more of the same

That’s a lot of gun you’re hunting with. You might want to trade your rifle in on a 7mm08 which is about as perfect a whitetail and pronghorn caliber there is. Barring a new rifle shortening the stock, adding a Pachmyer Decelerator, and a muzzle brake will help mitigate the recoil from your current rifle. Why get beat up if you don’t have to? You need to speak with your buddy Corbin regarding hunting pronghorn in Texas. He’s near a prime pronghorn area and our season is in October. I appreciate that you didn’t let Chris do the sight in for you even when it was clear that your rifle from a bench was “educating” your shoulder. I’d say good luck, but your teaser video gave the end result away. - Nick

Bobby Guy films got his channel demonetized for that same reason. He since got it remonetized, but yeah it's looking like KZbin wants to take the violence out of the videos. Just an idea hun, but if you ever come across a Remington model 7, try it on. The model 7 has a little shorter stock that will fit you better. Also if its chambered in the 260 Remington, thats my favorite, you might want to pick it up. It wont punish you like that 7mm Rem Mag does.

Awesome shooting! Not to give you any advice, but you are squeezing the trigger really well right up to about 50 percent and then pulling the last half. That's because you are anticipating the gun shot. A muzzle reducer will definitely help! A 7MM rem mag does produce a kick and that reducer allows you to keep your head from bouncing up off the stock on the shot and the anticipation goes away as well. You did quite well though without it.

You need a back support for the rifle butstock and try a caliber that doesn't bother your shoulder. Shoot at least 3 shot groups that way you know if you are shooting good. If you zero your rifle at 100 yards, then you must practice at 200, 300 yards and etc to know your bullet drop. Good luck on te hunt and where did you found that ammo, have been looking for 7MM REM MAG ammo for ever with no success :) good luck again!

Watching her trigger pull...her finger comes right off the trigger after the shot and there's barely any pressure on the trigger before the shot. I’m not some sniper or anything but I see a couple things that might help you shoot more accurately that are easy. Try dry fire practice. When pull the trigger you jerk it hard. Try slowly pressing the trigger and keep it depressed after the shot. Do you need that much fire power for a antilope? I would think a 243 or 308 would be more than enough 7mm rem mag Is for elk and moose.

Wow kaitlyn, when I see you shooting this 7rm rifle, I just can't help thinking something is wrong... You're so afraid of the kick that you can't be consistant. I dare 2 advices. First, why don't you put a bag under the stock to stabilise the rifle? Second, just go to a good gunsmith and put a muzzle break or a sound suppressor if allowed to drastically reduce the kick. That will improve your results by far.

I don't know if you do it all the time but the close-up shot of your trigger finger I happened to notice that there was a little bit too much finger over the trigger. Squeezing your trigger with the second segment of your trigger finger could cause jerking. Just use your finger tip.

7mm magnum is overkill for antelope. For a body size like yours a better choice of caliber would be 270. It would be less punishing on the shoulder but still be an effective round out to 400 yards.

"Cattywompass"? Is that like "discombobulated"? After no shooting for ten years, it would be hard to shoot a 7mm Rem Mag and not jerk the trigger. The anticipation of serious recoil does that to us mere mortals. By the way, full marks on your trigger finger safety, as in not putting your finger near the trigger until you are ready to shoot. I did most of my hunting with a .300 Win Mag. After a neck injury, I didn't shoot for years. When I thought I could get back at it, I was worried about a flinch from recoil anticipation. So, back to the beginning. I started with my trusty. .22LR. Then, my .222 Rem. Then my .243 Win. Finally, back to my .300 Win Mag. It worked for me.

Haha yes similar meanings. And yea its a large round for me, even if I had been shooting more often, but the gun was a gift so I didn't get to chose it. I already shot an antelope with it and didn't notice the recoil at all haha

Squeeze the trigger, don’t pull it. It should be a surprise when the rifle pops a round. Good luck on your hunt 🤘🏼

Mayb gun down to 270 or even 243 for less recoil.....shot placement is key. Both these calibers are fast flat shooting
