Hello! I used to shoot western recurve and made the jump to so called horse bows, like you are shooting. There are absolutely magic! You are using the split finger draw and shooting on the left of the bow! these bows can also be shot off the thumb on the right side of the bow. There are many many ways to shoot these bows including 3 under, thumb draw and Slavic draw. Feel free to see what works best for you!. I would trade off those arrows and use feather fletching's vs Vanes then the orientation of the features doesn't matter. Arrow spine and arrow weight count a lot with these bows and accuracy, archers' paradox is also something you need to factor in because there is no arrow shelf, these bows use an arrow pass...the thinnest part of the bow above the grip. Using the correct arrows will really make a difference here. Use of Khartra (torquing the bow) can really help too, once you get the correct technique down. You grip these bows different to modern western recurves too, modern recurve is basically resting on the base/root of the thumb and held with thumb and forefinger, these bows are held by the bottom three fingers...as a rule. These bows are huge fun!

Wow some great advise there. First Thank you so much. We really appreciate the advise, 😊. We've realised that was not helping at all so we're desperately trying to find some feathered arrows after using this bow..👍. Also.. When you say shoot off the thumb on the left side. Do you mean to draw it? If so we'll definitely give it a go as ive never tried thumb draw before. So should we be loosening just the index finger like slavic draw? Or do you mean loosen thumb grip too? I'm assuming If so maybe does it helps to khatra with a softer grip? when I've tried before it's felt like alot more relaxed style of shooting so that would make sence. Can't wait to give it all a try. Again thank you so much we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

@@TheHealeyverse Sorry, I meant to say shoot off the thumb from the right hand side of the bow. From the bow grip..easier to do when you hold the bow with the bottom three fingers. Kharta was designed to help solve two problems. 1. the physics around the arrow going around the bow and 2. inconsistent arrow spine and arrow weight. Kharta won't fix shooting form issues. Work on stance, drawing, anchor point, breathing, release and follow through and then add in your Kharta. Hope this helps?

You might want River Cane or Bamboo arrows. Even wooden arrows. Shoot Slavic style. Finger down along arrow shaft on one hand and finger pointing down range on other hand. Line them up in your head and shoot. Don't forget to give the wrist a little twisting flick to straighten the string and let the bow khatra in the other hand.

This is all great stuff thank you. We'll be sure to look into them, bamboo sounds nice and light👍. We have also been looking into slavic draw since your comment and can't wait to give it a try soon Matt likes to khatra, but we didn't know the action actually had a name so thank you for that also. We hope you have more advise to come in the future. 😊
