Basically you are anti-science because you don't like the conclusion the research shows. How ironic. Whoever manages this channel should be let go for such immature behavior.

A Sri Lankan Here, wonderful Documentary btw. But simon, the Picture you showed as "Datusena" is not of him, But an statue of Lord Buddha which was built allegedly in his period near his irrigation project Kala Wewa. And the Picture showed as Moggallana or mugalan - the Kasyapa's half brother is not that Moggallana. It is the statue of Moggallana the Arahant, who was one of the top two Monks or Desciples of Lord Buddha in Buddha's Era. It is the Same name, but two whole different people. Other than that, the Documentary is very well done. Love From Sri Lanka..!

I was in Sri Lanka some 3 or 4 years ago, but instead of actually going up Sigiriya itself we chose to visit Pidurangala. It's a huge rock just a few kilometers out from Sigiriya. Maybe not as beautiful and interesting, but it gave you the most amazing view of The Lion Rock in all it's glory. A view I'll honestly never forget. Incredibly sad to see in what state Sri Lanka is in right now. Really hope things will look a bit brighter for the Sri Lankan people soon. Would love to pay it another visit

it's not that hard , i don't know how much it going to cost for air tickets but once you touch down in SL it would be cheep for anyone from a 1st world country ! for me to take a trip from airport to Sigiriya and back to airport will cost about USD 300.00 as a local but this is without the cost for a place to stay ! i just look up a places to stay called "Sigiriya King's Resort" from November 03 to November 05 for 2 adults it's about USD 350.00 , so maybe it will cost about USD 3500 to USD 6000+ for a full trip around the country (depending on how fancy you want the hotels and other things, like if you going to use a "Private Van" or public transport, scooter etc.) but i have to tell everyone that there are some economical problems and other things like power cuts happening now so it may not be the best time (but many foreigners are still traveling it's not a problem ,just some inconvenience) also you can find many vlogs on KZbin made by people traveling SL ,some do add all the prices and stuff at the end ! these will help a lot and also show other places in SL !

Had the great fortune to visit Sigiriya the year it opened up for visitors and hardly anyone had heard of it. Almost no-one there, the lion's paws were unfenced, I was 15 and climbed it barefoot. They didn't even have stairs put in for the last stretch and you had to just use the ancient footholds cut into the rock and a chain to hold onto. It was brilliant! In a strange twist I didn't appreciate at the time, we stayed a couple of nights in Arthur C Clarke's house (he wasn't there at the time, and I don't even know how my dad arranged it). It was only years later I read Fountains of Paradise, inspired by Sigiriya.

Hello Desire G., lifelong depressive here. Firstly, it's okay to not be okay. There is a lot going on right now and it's totally okay to tap out for a bit to regain better mental health. If you haven't experienced this before, let me assure you that you are going to be okay. Make sure sure you are eating well, sleeping well and getting some sunshine and exercise everyday. Eat lots of dark greens and vegetables and less sugar. Seriously reduce your social media time and enjoy your own thoughts. Sleeping well means a wind down routine with no screen time and regular sleep/wake times. Get out of bed when you're ready and do what brings you joy. Then balance getting done some of what needs to get done with what brings you joy. Doesn't matter if anyone else approves, or whether it's useful. Reacquaint yourself with what made life worth living for you and pursue more of that. I offer these suggestions because I was exactly where you are (pre Simon, sadly) 28 years ago, and they have kept me alive through multiple episodes since. You're gonna be okay once you regain some balance again. With love to you, just be patient with yourself, you are worth the effort! 💕

There is one more thing you might want to explore. There is a legend that says Sigiriya palace was first built by the great King Ravana; long before Kashyapa. As per my knowledge there are no archeological evidences to support this but the stories and the legend. Im not sure though. Ravana is remembered in folklore as a great king with an amazing technology who had an aerial vehicle that could land on top of Sigiriya. Again all this for your curious mind to explore maybe ☺️ Thank you so much for covering such a magnificent historical site in my country. Lots of love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

I've been to Sigiriya, the statue you portray as Datusana, is the actually a Buddha statue commisioned by Datusana, not him; the statue you portray as Mogalana is probably some Buddhist monk, or the Buddha. The guy you portray as Kashapa looks like a Hindu monk... this is just sloppy... as far as I remember, there were no statues or portraits of any of these characters anywhere... also, according to our tourist guide, Kashapa had lost when his war-elephant had decided to go up a hill to get a better view of the ongoing battle, and Kashapa's troops had misinterpreted this as a retreat.

This is a lie.... There is no evidence that ravana existed..... And kashyapa's descendants never ascended the throne... Even if ravana had existed , it was way before king Vijaya came to Sri Lanka.... Us Sinhalese are descendants of whom which came from Bengal and Gujarat although many Sri Lankan think Ravana is Sinhalese..... He was an original Sri Lankan.. Not like us who are descendants from north indians....how did u even make up that lie? 😂😂😂 I think u skipped history classes... Basic ones 😂😂

The statue of "Kashyapa" shown in the documentary belongs to a Hindu sage, not to the Buddhist prince of the same name thousands of years later.

If Siths had any intelligence, they would simply yell up to him "enjoy starving to death", used the force to pull down all the staircases and gone about their business. Fortunately for Jedi, Siths aren't that smart. Instead they would have hatched some convoluted plan to resurrect the dead king or turn his children to the dark side or something.

A little altered and geographically shifted (to serve as a base for a space elevator) Sigiriya has a major role in Arthur C. Clarke's "The Fountains of Paradise"(1979), which is one of his best novels and my favourite.

7:12 "based on the four gardens of paradise mentioned in the Koran" um... I doubt Islam or the Koran had anything to do with designs in a Buddhist kingdom at a time when Muhammad was only a child.

8:01 @ bruh there is an error in your video. Those are not the "paws" of a lion. Google lions paws and look at these and compare. Those are the claws of the Mythical avian beast called the "Garuda", which is why those claws built to the side of the staircase have a separate gripping claw, similar to eagles.

Hi, I am from Sri Lanka and really amazed at quite accurate facts you have presented . Sigiriya is one of my favorited places . That stone Buddhist statue in your video is called Aukana and it always amazed me. how much skill and patient the person (s) had to built it. It was said it is also built at same time period and it is totally carved out of one rock.

KZbin, I'm still waiting for a mega project on KZbin about KZbin, talk about a meta project))) let's face it up into recently nobody else was able to make anything comparable with the exception of Netflix... And that isn't comparable either it's completely separate setup. Maybe both of them should be on side projects but considering when it came out and how large it was soon after and what it took to keep it going and I'm not just talking money here I think it's a mega project

Please note that when you talk about Moggallana on your video you show the statue of the Venerable Moggallana who is one of the main deciple of the Lord Buddha which is wrong. Brother of the king Kashyapa Moggallana is a lay person (A prince). Clarification is from a Sri lankan❤. Nice documentary very informative.
