Great vedio. Is it better than ziess 55 mm for general photography?

Nope. At least not by standard metrics. This behaves more like a vintage lens that happens to have AF. It's not the sharpest, had distortion, the aperture is quite small for a standard prime, and close focusing the lens is incredibly not-sharp.

@@Ava-wu4qp Well, mine is quite sharp so I guess its the sample variation coming out to play again! I really like the vintage swirly Bokeh this lenses gives.

Fail on not make this lens 1.8. Samyang solved it, yes construction sucks but it is 1.8

Do you recommend Samy 45 mm 1.8?

I bought this lens for my A7s it was terrible on focusing - it confirmed focus but the the image was all out of focus. I had to return it. I'm thinking to buy A7III or A7RIII just for this lens - I love it but the focus confirmation on A7s was terrible, I don't know if they will release a firmware update.

Why would you buy a whole new camera, just for a 600 dollar lens (250 dollars used)? Seems nuts.

i had this lens for 1 day, terrible lens at 2.8. Not sharp at f2.8.

it is purposefully designed not to be sharp at 2.8.

Alejandro Ilukewitsch yeah, I agree. It’s a solid lens. Those other commenters must be terrible photographers.
