I’m using this lens couple weeks and it’s great for that price, definitely better than Viltrox 56mm. I have been using original XF 56 1.2 for couple years but autofocus on this lens was hit or miss using Face / Eye detection. Sigma performs much better especially with X-H2S

Are you saying the Sigma 56 has much better AF than the original XF56? I currently have the old XF56 and am thinking about moving from that to the Viltrox or this Sigma lens after the firmware updates.

@@tianlamian I yes the autofocus is better in my opinion but it’s not better lens than XF 56 1.2 even old one. Viltrox has a lot of optical problems so I don’t recommend it. If you have XF56 1.2 the only upgrade is the new one in my opinion and only in some scenarios.

@@tianlamian I'm honestly not surprised. I have the XF and at wide open apertures it does struggle and even sometimes on narrower apertures.

I am planning to buy this lens, but I am a bit unsure about AF C. I am planning to use it for street photography and I need fast and reliable AF C, specially in low light, because that is the reason I would go for 1.4 instead of f2 with Fuji xf 50. Video is not my goal with this lens. Would you say that this lens is close to xf50 f2 when it comes to phot AF C. My camera is XT3. Thx!

The XF50mm f2 has better autofocus. Since I tested the lens, I think Sigma released another firmware update that improves AF, maybe it is better now.

Andrei - thank you so much for your review! I absolutely love the magical image quality that Fujifilm 90mm f2 delivers, but I prefer Sigma’s focal length, size and weight. In your view is Sigma’s image quality wide open very similar to Fujifilm’s 90mm at f2, or the difference is material? My other lenses are 18mm f1.4 and 33mm 1.4 in addition to 16-80mm f4. My pleasure! The Fujifilm 90mm f2 has better build quality but the Sigma is also nicely built. Maybe the Fuji is just a bit sharper in my opinion.

Hey Andrei, Great review! I was wondering if the sigma lens supports 40fps with the H2S. (I know that for Sony cameras the third party lenses are limited to 15fps). Multumesc mult!

Great vid! I really wish the Sigma lenses had a manual aperture ring. That just allows for muscle memory with other Fuji lenses

I bought the trio when it came out cause of the price and after a week I had to returned it cause of the AF issues, I would say Viltrox works fine for Fuji and can’t wait for the third generation of viltrox lenses as they made the 13 1.4.

The lens comes with firmware 1.00 when you buy it, you need to update it to 1.01. You can update it just like any other Fuji lens. If you want the lens for photography the Sigma is great option.
