Greatly informative review 👍 ✨ Please tell me what is the deference between this lense and the same exactly 85mm 1.4 DG but with no DN is written on the lens *This one is (DG DN) the other one is only (DG) no DN and both are the same size exactly* I find a used and clean one for a good price and I want to use it with my Nikon Z6 ii with Viltrox EF-Z2 lens adapter

Glad I found this channel. Your vids have become my personal shopper. No longer have to look at 100 videos to get what a piece of gear is about. Picked this up from TK for the SL2 a few days ago. Close focus sucks in terms of both distance and sharpness but the lens in a home run in every other way. No-one is using an 85 for macro anyway. Good thing I saw this vid before I went for the 90 APO. Now I get to keep the kidney and have a great portrait lens for L-mount.

Bobby, Greetings and Salutations from Okinawa. Quick question. Obviously your opinion. Sigma 85mm f1.4 Art OR the Sigma 105mm f1.4 Art lenses for the Leica SL2-S. If portraits were your driving and singular passion - and - you could only EVER own one between these two. Which one would you choose? I respect your opinion enough to solicit your thoughts. Be Blessed, Doc Chaps PS My absolute favorite portrait lens on an M or the SL2-S is the Noct 75mm f1.25 but I’m looking for an autofocus alternative for my more fidgety subjects . Be Blessed ,

I just got this Sony version of 85mm F1.4 DG DN, it has great image quality as others art lenses I have 24 mm, 40 mm and 105 mm. It is a great portrait lens without the 1 kg extra weight and bulk of 105mm F1.4. It is more likely the lens that I can put in my camera bag, it is smaller and weighing less than both 24mm and 40 mm .

Hello, from ur experience, I wanted to ask u about bokeh comparison in sigma 85mm f1.4 lens on both apsc and full frame, which camera will result in more bokeh? I know that full frame is better in bokeh but considering the compression we get from the crop factor on apsc in the 85mm distance will that result in more bokeh than using it in full frame body?
@TECH360TV29 күн бұрын
Depends on the lighting condition, bigger sensors ability to capture more light also helps with better bokeh.
@shathan.1029 күн бұрын
@@TECH360TV exactly, but more compression (zoom) produces more bokeh too, and this is APSC so there is crop, will the bokeh from compression in APSC be stronger than when using the lens on full frame body?

@@TECH360TV thanks Bobby Is the sigma good at color fringing and chromatic aberrations controls as the APO? I regret I sold my 90 APO few years ago. I have the 75 since but it’s a bit short sometimes Maybe I sell the 75 to buy a 85 1.4 DG DN or a 90 second hand or the new Lumix 100 macro ! What is your thoughts about this choice ? So Bobby... Should I get this lens? LOL! Just kidding. Your enthusiasm for the lens is undeniable. I'm incredibly happy with my m43 Lumix G9 and Leica Nocticron combination for my fashion and just about anything involving a person. But for higher-end work where mostly I, can see the difference and mostly in the studio, I want the S1R. But for a while, the Leica 90 f/2 was the only thing I considered for my fashion work. I saw another fashion photographer use the Canon version of this Sigma lens adapted to the S1R (pre-Sigma L-mount version) and the results were nothing short of stunning. I have an eye for Medium Format images and I would say that a Nikon with an Otus would get you to about 95%'sh to MF quality and look. The S1R w/Sigma is maybe, 98% of MF. I've seen images from an Otus mated to an S1R and I thought they were pretty darn good. Maybe better. It was hard to judge. But the Otus, even on sale, is 3x the price of the Sigma. Is the price difference worth that tiny preference? For $1199 US, the Sigma is a bargain and you're right, only the Leica 90mm f/2 is its competitor. And if the build quality holds-up, a lens you can easily be happy with for the next 10 years of professional use. Easily. Keep up the good work and thanks for the great review!
@TECH360TV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Ricardo. It’s definitely a great lens and if you aren’t up for a manual focus Otus this is very close to that. But to be honest the Otus to me is one of if not the best series of lenses for IQ I have used to date. Unfortunately they are large and manual focus only so this means it’s challenging to really nail focus on moving subjects. This Sigma however really holds its own and when you get your subject in focus it’s very impressive.
@ricardorgomez3 жыл бұрын
@@TECH360TV Agreed on all counts. The fashion work I saw with the Sigma attached to the S1R was second to none. And with the size, weight and AF, it's 2x better than the previous generation. I'm just a Zeiss fan and used an old 50mm f/1.4 Planar for many years. Simply curious about the real-world differences between them.
@TECH360TV3 жыл бұрын
Understand. I would possibly give the edge to the zeiss for IQ if we are talking Otus but anything else Sigma

Nice video! However it should be mentioned that this lens has a lot of distortion which may or may not become visible on L-mount. Also worth noting is imho that the bokeh circles are cat's eyes shaped in he corner of the image.
@TECH360TV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Another person commented on that but I don’t see distortion in my lens on the L Mount.
@stefan_becker3 жыл бұрын
@@TECH360TV Interesting. Must have been corrected electronically since Sigma intentionally decided for the 85mm 1.4 DG DN not to correct distiortion to achieve perfect sharpness. That means the camera probably corrects this already inside the raw files. Otherwise the distorion would become visible in the raw converter because there are no lens profiles available for the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DG DN yet.
