Kamil, thank you for a great review. Which software do you use for stacking your astro shots with this lens? I'm a Mac user. Thank you.

Great review, thanks! Do you use the adapter mount for the EOS R? Any idea if Sigma will be making RF compatible lenses this year?
@kamilkp2 жыл бұрын
They might but even if they announce them they will probably be a long waiting time due to global shortages of parts etc. btw. check out my followup video about Sigma 24mm vs Sigma 28mm kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZTXqYufgNmVpKc

Hi Kamil, great work! I did a review of the 15mm f/2 Loawa, and it's looking better than that Canon 24mm...! That shows that we are getting what we are paying for...

Is "HSM" other than "DG DN" versions? Assume DN are better?

Love the honest pixel peeping from the corners, keep it up. Love to see a test of the Tamron 35mm f/1.4 if possible. 👍

Actually the corners on the Sigma 28mm f/1.4 are way better than this 24mm. I will be making a followup vid about this soon

How’s the false color halo’s for the Sigma 24mm f1.4? For example I used a rented Canon 24mm f1.4 lens for a Timelapse of the Milky Way and captured some very bright meteor’s that burst but had a red halo at it brightest point. Also bright stars would show some reddish halo around the stars. Of course I had the lens wide open at 1.4. Any suggestions would help.

Would you recommend Canon’s lens for amateur use for capturing milky way? In your clip you shown pictures of the milky way captured with canon lens and they look great in my opinion. Did you make a lot of post processing on them? Were they done with star tracker? I’m trying to find a wide (not ultra wide) lens for my canon rp so I can shot milky way but also use it for normal daylight photography.

That EF 24mm f/2.8 is a great value. I was using it a lot and was quite happy with it at that time

Nice review, but would be even better if the comparison is shot with same setting, same shutter speed, same composition.

I thought about this or the Samyang 24mm f1.4 for my Nikon D850. My mind had been made up until I watched this video now I am confused again :) My belief was that the Sigma had very bad Coma compared to the Samyang.

try the Tamron 35mm F1.4 if you get the chance. Super sharp

I have a Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 but I don’t like this focal length for astro. Thanks for the tip tho!

Excellent. I'm almost ready to hit the "Buy" button at adorama for the Sigma 24mm ART (Canon EF mount.) I've been reading reviews for other wide angle fast lenses. Many swear up and down that the Rokinon/samyang 24mm is the best (if you get a good copy.) That's been a big sticking point. I've been through several Sigma 24's and 20's and they all have decentered elements, terrible coma and other aberrations. I've sent them all back . Perhaps the ART 24mm will work for me.

I think the Sigma ART 28mm is the best of the bunch optically. My 24mm wasn’t showing much problems on these images but on some other ones shot with the same lens I saw quite horrentous stars in the corners. Maybe it depends in which side covers the ground and which covers the sky - I don’t know. But I actually sold my 24mm last week and ordered the 28mm. I’ll make a pinned comment about it under this video once I confirm the corner quality of the 28mm

Great vid Kamil. So did you switch to the 28mm? I can’t see a note to that effect. I’m torn between the 24 and 28mm DG HSM for Milky Way. Nico Carver showed the 28mm as much better in the corners and you mention better optical quality. Hence the qu. But I’d prefer 24mm FOV if the optical quality difference is marginal
@kamilkp11 ай бұрын
@clarky_astro yes I did switch to the 28mm. It’s better in the corners indeed

Yes that 1.4 Sigma 24mm is great But I have gone Nikon 20mm f1.8 S..not much more different in F stop and far more spread but not too much. Its so good optically that tere is never any Coma etc right out to the corners >> The wonder of the Z mount >> enjoy the lens you have it has a good reputation >> My 24-70 f2.8 Nikon S doesnt have any Coma and Vignetting @F2.8>> no Astigmatism Wings on your stars just like all my S Lenses

I gotta say, it looks tempting, but I had a very very bad experience with Sigma 35mm ART - even at f4 the lens was just terrible.
@jeffmsc2 жыл бұрын
I dont understand how you can say the 24mm corners are great here with no noticeable astigmatism but in your other video comparing it to the 28mm you find much more noticeable astigmatism.
@kamilkp2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is interesting indeed heh. At the time the corners looked good to me but then when I tried the 28mm it turned lut that the corners in the 28mm are much better
