Put some tape or better still, silicone over the top of the joints to keep water out. I have a Hygain 1/2 wave silver rod that has server me well for 40 years.

The 4 washers are for use on the U bolts, not on the ground plane bolts, but no worries.

That explains why I had to go hunt some extras down !!! Oh well don't think it will hurt to have washers on both...
