The 4 washers are for use on the U bolts, not on the ground plane bolts, but no worries.

That explains why I had to go hunt some extras down !!! Oh well don't think it will hurt to have washers on both...

Put some tape or better still, silicone over the top of the joints to keep water out. I have a Hygain 1/2 wave silver rod that has server me well for 40 years.

hi im ste in the uk i have just got one for the 10 and 11m to talk to my friends on the FM CB but when i got mine i didn,t have any felt tip markings on the antenna on the first section like yours and the swr through the roof how much about do you put it in to get a good reading on 27.781.25 thanx alot from m7byf , 26pat064

I would estimate the factory length to be around 12 inches for 27.200 MHz. Since you’re tuning for 27.780 MHz, you might want to start at about 10 inches and adjust from there. Using a VNA or antenna analyzer would make the process much easier, but trial and error can also work effectively. Remember, lower frequencies correspond to longer wavelengths, so increasing the antenna length allows it to resonate better at lower frequencies. However, since you’re tuning for a slightly higher frequency, you’ll need to shorten the antenna.

@@TheElectronMan yes thats right that was all in my license exam and allthou it was 2021 i have been on radio about 40 yrs starting off on AM with a midland 100m lol about 1978 79 before FM was even out but then moved up to the 27.555 but yes i need to shorten it to go up in frequency ill take it down and get to tuning it thanx and maybe we can have a chat some time on the HF bands im usually on between 40m to 10m but mostly 20m 73 and thanx from m7byf
