Wow! Here is my very own friend Laura, who grew up in my previous neighborhood! Look at her! Here she is giving a Ted-X Talk! This is a “must listen to talk! “ I watched as Laura grew up. She pays a nice tribute to her parents here, and I will say that Laura couldn’t have asked for better parents. R and G went to the ends of the earth , and left no stone unturned, to not only learn sign language, but also went to great lengths to find, invent, whatever, every support Laura needed. What isn’t told here is what an amazing young lady Laura grew up to be. I was dumbfounded the day I realized that Laura had become an accomplished pianist! She learned and is proficient in reading lips and communicated well in the community. We had a great neighborhood and she had many who did try to adjust to accommodate her deafness. There was a special family that especially tried to tuck her under their wings, and they actually helped me to learn some signing. Laura happens to be a very talented painter, and she also has a wide array of many mediums for her artistry. She is a master gardener, and is a good mother who adores her darling children. ~ Given the trials that Laura has endured, particularly in the past 8 or so years, it’s a true miracle that we see this lovely lady on a worldwide stage educating us, speaking about, and advocating for deafness. Congratulations Laura! ❤️❤️❤️

some of the captions are wrong - which is unfortunate because she says "the best thing you can do is take the time to learn to sign" but the caption says "take the time to understand" - and a few other errors. GREAT MESSAGE!!
