The song signs of judgement was an old congregational song. I first heard around the early sixties from an evangelist an elder Gershwin from California., I participated in district choir for a few years , because the song was so striking to me I rearranged lyrics with the base being signs of the judgement we sung this as a choir song one of the directors and leaders with this youth group for music was Philip Courtney Frazier , our youth field rep was Missionary Loraine Fuqua, I presented idea of this song to Bro. Frazier gave him my printed lyrics . We traveled in the city singing this song. To my attention I later heard this song being sung in Memphis, at the national convocation, I was somewhat taken back Wondering did my lyrics get into someone's hand or suggested at a later date changed a bit to prove different and taken to be ther own original I definitely am over that and learned from it this educated me to always patent or legally put claim on things of any nature that someone else can come along and take for their personal gain. Yes, I know it's a big world and God gives to several but it was too, coincidental, even my family was like Omg I think someone bargained and took the rights, yes I ignorantly passed that on never knowing. Yes anyone can sing or write an rearranged a song..

This was a Mahalia Jackson number.......wish i could have heard her do this live with a choir in Chicago

Yes, I heard her version first (obviously). This is one of those rare occasions where I actually like a newer version a little more. I am a little partial to the version done by Benny Cummings, but I do love Mahalia's version still.
