When the electrification to Craigieburn was completed, there were diesel trains terminating at Donnybrook which was a small place. My guess was that it was not possible to cross over at Craigieburn and so the crossover at Donnybrook was used.

In the US, the rules would not allow the two-train move seen at 3:45. One would have to be entirely clear in most instances before that second train could proceed even that short distance for that reverse-crossover move later. Loved the footage, signal boxes in your country, like those in the UK, seem to have been maintained in top form. Thanks!

The RFR lines are computer controlled. Not sure about the North East line these days, although I do know its changed significantly since I took this video in 2002

it is still double line block from Craigieburn to Seymour . Somerton is no longer there
