I'm so glad I came across this video. I've started using it as a training tool for fellow Network Controllers learning the Melbourne Metro board. The quality of the video is amazing too and shows very clearly what the signals and turnouts look like, which is a massive help for us in here without route knowledge and what locations & landmarks look like too. Thank-you for uploading this!

@@newbierumennursery7847 you are very welcome. I am very happy these are helping fellow employees across the rail industry as well as being interesting to people whom have a passion for rail. 👍😀

@@driver667 I went through this arvo and saved a few (so far) of your trips across other parts of our network so I can share them around too. Really enjoying the C class journeys on the South West too (and a good training moment for when you passed 265/6 at stop for example). It all started with one of my recent trainees on the Metro asking about speed indicators and I found this video to show him what they looked like. We, and another senior NC watched/skipped through the journey from Tullamarine to Moonee Ponds. Will definitely be passing on your videos to our training team when they're back on deck tomorrow and hopefully get this sort of thing incorporated into our NC training. Looking forward to going through more of your catalogue :) Keep these videos coming!!

@@newbierumennursery7847 these all started with my wife suggesting I put them up to help trainee drivers. It works out that they are very helpful right across the board. I am very happy they are helping with you guys over there also. I'll keep em coming and I'll talk to you on the radio. 👍😀

Loved the videos as always! Yes this does give me an insight view of how you guys work on the rail network and see the things that others ourselves don’t see from that point of view! So good that you could do this to provide an “outside in” perspective of the driver’s view of the trains and tracks they are travelling down or up on! I’ve loved every single on of them so far! Very well done there mate on your efforts to produce and record these & upload them to U Tube for everyone to view & watch! Fab Job! K🙂☺👍

At 20:45 I’ve noticed all of the AN’s there, are they still in storage or reactivated for service there? I also noticed that they were putting the freighters together for service to the designated cities! Fascinating to see that!

Fascinating ride through Melbourne's freight yards, I will never be able to work out the set up of dual gauge points, but someone did and obviously they work. What is that new infrastructure at 23:18 is that part of the new Metro Tunnel project???

The Victorian system is broad gauge (1600mm). This is used across the state of Victoria. Standard gauge (1435mm) is the interstate network with this running into Victoria. The Albury line is the only passenger service Vline operates on standard gauge. All other passenger lines are broad gauge. Greetings to Belgium. Very happy you enjoyed the ride 👍 😀

G'day, at the start of the trip down the line how long was that freight train you past it was so long, I'm amazed by the extent of the railway network no wonder it cost the tax payers so much, thanks for the ride, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

Making a comment here. The scenery along the standard gauge line into Melbourne is quite grubby at times. Doesn’t make a good impression for our interstate visitors.
@driver66711 ай бұрын
I have often thought that as I drive the train through there. 👍😀

Was that freight train at max length do you think? Maybe 1.8 km long?
@driver66711 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what the maximum allowed length is these days but it must have been close to it 🤔 😀😀👍
@KerrynB11 ай бұрын
It’s usually 1.8 k’s in length! Sometimes a little shorter but the majority of the time, it’s 1.8 k’s max! The new freight hub being built at Beveridge just north of Donnybrook will accommodate double stacked trains on the very new Inland Rail being built & constructed to take double stacked freight from out there to Brisbane’s new hub also! Just part of Beveridge will see single stacked freight trains run to Appleton Dock or the yards there for shipping bound for overseas! ☺🙃

If you were in the country at a level crossing waiting for that to finish crossing, you could go to the pub for a counter lunch, down a couple of pots, come out and it may be almost clear by then 😃🍺🍺
