Yup… this is a topic that isn’t discussed NEARLY enough! This might be your most important vid in the series honestly… 👍🏻👍🏻

Right?! It's so fundamental

The best, and one of the very few good Logic/GB teachers on KZbin. Especially helpful if you're trying to do more than just pile up a lot of beats and loops and hope for the best. Thanks again!

Thank you for thoroughly explaining on this topic! It definitely is essential when it comes to adding processing to any audio.

Thanks for a clear explanation of how the Signal Flow works. Since switching to Logic using the Buses has been confusing. Today really helped. Looking forward to Part 12 tomorrow.

Always wanted the signal flow simply explained - thank you! I'm looking forward to learning more about Bussing, no doubt it'll be in your usual exceptionally clear explanation.

Good brief description. Something I feel is also worth pointing out but given this was a short description I understand it was left out was that with sends to buses one has choices including pre fader and post fader. Sometimes pre fader is the best choice, particularly if that send is going to be used to side chain, other times like with reverb on the auxiliary post fader is generally the best choice. For sends used to trigger side chaining it is almost always the right thing to do to not have those auxiliary tracks going to Stereo Output and change their output to No Output.

Good point, John! I cover buses in tomorrows video and touch on pre/post fader. But that's an even more specific case than I thought to cover!

Im interested in your thoughts on pre and post faders. When do you use it?

Good clear explanation - thanks for the video and thanks also for the great series. One question: On the part where you show the "stereo out" channel in the mixer screen, you describe the stereo out as the "Master" but there is a separate track to the right of the stereo out track also called "Master" ... what is the difference?

Isn't it panning/balance before volume fader? I guess that doesn't really matter much, but it makes more sense given the order they are in (top to bottom).

I'm still on Garageband, but this makes sense for that too. The question I have is when you said that you do a little masterchannel processing first do you mean just basic mixing or are you using things like overall compression, or EQ at this stage? Currently, I'm doing a little EQ and Compression on vocals, bass, and guitar before I deal with any real processing on the masterchannel. BTW, thank you so much for these videos, for a poor singer, songwriter, producer who is trying to do it all myself, these are so helpful. Do you do any critiquing or reviewing of other peoples work?

Hey Terry! I do. Shoot me an email at bandguy@thebandguide.com And yes- I process master channel BEFORE any individual processing. Have you seen my 6 steps to a pro mix? There's a playlist on my main KZbin page!
