Look, it’s extremely unlikely. The oscars hardly ever give awards to ‘kids’ films. See the Harry Potter films, they only ever got a few nominations for score, costume design and makeup though many argued that Alan Rickman deserved one for his portrayal of Severus Snape. The bottom line, is that Emma didn’t shine enough in this film to warrant a nom - and she has to be doubly good to get a nom for a kids film…

I think that if a sequel happens they will take the story on a different route, much like she said at some point in this movie. People expect her to be the villain and she has no problem with APPEARING to be such but doesn't actually do the true evil. Like with her 'dalmatian coat', the Baroness truly thought she had used her dogs for her outfit but the dogs were fine. I think that is how they will take it up, the world will know Cruella DeVil as this insane woman but Jasper and Horace will know the truth, perhaps even Anita will be in on it like she was in this movie.

I think Emma Thompson made a mistake in the first scene that got overlooked. She said she needed 12 pieces. Then says she needs 10 by 3am. When production provided the cork board, it was obviously made to display only 10 designs at a time.

Actually in the novelization of the book the dialogue is written that way too. But reflecting on it, it makes sense. She needs 10 doesn’t care who by 3am. Then the last two later. There’s even a deleted scene where the are all working and baroness hates one of the designs and crinkles the paper and basically wants that worker start again and she see Estella’s design and put it up. That’s the first of the 10 and says to everyone. I need more.

Actually Baroness educates Estella but not much people notices that. She advice her to become better in a way that is true for herself. Thanking is not bad but she thinks it is and she wants Estella to be proud herself
