If you use Guru with the breath should ru be on the in breath and gu on the out breath as ru means light and gu means darkness? Or it doesn't matter?

Recitation of guru guru in a rhythm is all that is needed for naam smaran. Additionally, identifying a specific time of a day to sit down formally and do the recitation plus singing guru bhajan is something that is religiously followed. Maharaj himself followed this during his life time. This could do wonders.

I found a list of mantras on the website of the ashram of a very well-respected great saint of modern India. I carefully chose one whose sound and meaning resonated deeply with me. I don’t live in a country with genuine gurus and don’t have the opportunity to travel to one. But I’m confident that God will guide me forward in this.
