I think a lot of people do not understand that Wagner is not "elite" anymore. When you draft your men from prison and throw them in the frontline without training, you are the exact opposite of "elite". They might have been at the beginning of the war, now they are yet another Potemkin's army.

Wagner was never elite. Wagner plays the role of "New GM" while the Russian army is "Old GM". The Russian Army isn't built to be adaptable. The Russian Army can't pay a retired combat pilot $3k/day for their services. The Russian Army can't effectively use convicts. Wagner has higher-end operators, and they have penal units. To the extent Wagner is successful, they'll create pressure on the Russian Army to become more adaptable.

The Wagner group is a winning concept for Russia. - Consists of convicted criminals that could instill fear on it's foes by reputation; - Criminals in prison cost money. This is good way to get rid of them. I don't think these guys are meant to survive the war, actually in contrary; - That being said, cannonfodder can have tactical advances on the battlefield. Can be used as diversions or give an attritional pressure on the opponent. It's a good thing that the Russian commanders probably will be too incompetent to make any difference with the Wagner group.

To be clear. The PMC gained its reputation during a time when it only consisted of professional SOFs. The prisoners have nothing to do with this. And what information transpires these prisoner soldiers aren't dreaded by Ukrainians at all. They are used as cannon fodder, badly equipped, badly trained. Some have willingly surrendered, others try to escape back to Russia and already have killed other Russians back home. To avoid surrendering and escapes in good old Soviet-era style they are guarded by a rear, usually conscripts, who are ordered to shoot them when they retreat...

The fact that the hit was in Kadiivka, quite a distance from the frontline in Bakhmut suggests to me that it is more likely a concentration of the professional members of the Wagner group and not the raw recruits they pull out of prisons. In the absence of independent confirmation I would look at the performance of the forces in Bakhmut. A decrease in the effectiveness of the attacks would suggest that this was indeed a significant blow to the group.

This is Russian tactics and has been for much of the past 150 years. Their soldiers are not well trained and not well equipped, but he essentially has a very large supply of them. I like your content but please consider putting a low-pass filter in front of the TV screen. Any thin frosted plastic with a reasonable diffusion will do. The moiré pattern on the screen behind is not just visually distracting but as a broadcast technician I should also point out that they encode quite similar to noise, which means your encoder is spending much of its data on encoding the background at expense of the presenter.
