Signing with my FIRST TEAM! - MXGP 2020 - Career Mode Ep. 1

As the dust settles on a rough release from the folks at Milestone, I thought it would be good to put features aside and spend a video talking just about the physical aspects of the game. I signed up with the 114 Motorsports Honda team and set off in the MX2 class on realistic difficulty. Enjoy!

Yea, we've been asking for this to be corrected for years! Their RIDE games already have this so it's not a matter of building from scratch. I can't believe we don't have the ability to move the name and number where ever we need to. We should be able to move these "anywhere" on the back of the jersey. The limitation makes no sense.

Oh, sorry guys! One last thing that I was going to touch on and I'm sure most of you have noticed. Why is there such a "short" time to the gate drop? It's like there is zero build up to the drop. I like having a few seconds before it drops to hear the bikes rev and judge the gate. This is all a part of racing and makes it more realistic. Maybe I'm just being too sensitive, but I don't really understand why we don't have a few seconds before the drop. Ok, I'm down......really!

I haven't played a MXGP game since 2, so the difference for me between 2 and this game is night and day, this game is awesome, I do think they need to add more depth to the career mode, Like add manufacture standings, add length to contracts instead of being able to switch in between every race, add a training mode like they have in supercross 4, I would also love to see a custom helmet editor where we can buy a base fox, Thor, bell etc helmet and design it with the jersey colours and sponsors of our rider. make each season feel different, riders moving up from mx2 class to the MXGP class maybe have different variations of tracks from season to season even if it is just reversing it every other season.

Glad I'm not the only one who has the credit clicking glitch. Super annoying. I have to exit out of the game and get back in every 1-2 races just to get rid of it.

Got a few observations I'll post separately in hopes that Milestone will read at some point. OBSERVATION 1: When selecting a sponsor such as SDM Corse Yamaha, the riders name and number are on the back of the jersey. Riders' name is Fernandez. How are we suppose to put our name and number on top of another rider? This makes no sense and should be very obvious during development. OBSERVATION 2: Similar to this point, why would the riders' gear (jersey) have the company logo on the back, right where we need to put our number? Again this should be obvious during development. It's like this release was hurried and not thought through. However, having said that, let me also say there is a lot I like about this new game and appreciate what Milestone does for us every year. Honestly, I look forward to the annual installments.

I feel as though there should definitely be a lot more customization with number and nicknames on the backs of jerseys, and especially on your bikes. Like, to opt for entire team setups with the team's jersey font, color, and placement on the back of your jersey and everything or to, if not that, have at least a bit more direct input on what it all looks like. That's just me, I guess.

When your talking about rider "animations" I think the word your looking for is dynamics and how they should be accurate to the bike movements with a few anchor points but the rest of the body motion should move and blend dynamically. I great example of this is Rockstars methods they've used in GTA IV, V, RDR, and RDR2 with the Endorphin Engine for player and NPC models. Nothing beats thats tech when it comes to realistic looking movements in games. Theirs been papers written and demos showing better player interaction ad dynamics with better simulations but those wont show up for another 5+ years in games.

I still think the riders aren’t scaled to the bike properly and the rider gets dirtier than they should while the bike stays relatively spotless. Real bummer that those things aren’t fixed yet

I'm thinking about getting this game when I eventually build my PC. My last Motocross game was MXGP3 and the newest game I've played was MESX3. It'll be nice to play a Motocross game again EDIT: I know MXGP2020 looks like pro and sx3 and they're not really improving too much but it would still be nice to change things up

Its a sports game with yearly releases, its not going to drastically change from year to year. Also with the world still having restrictions its probably still really tough to get everyone together. Maybe it is because I don't buy these games every year, but just be thankful its not like madden, NHL, FIFA.

For me I haven't played a MXGP game since 2 so MXGP 2020 was worth it for me and same with supercross 4 I haven't played since supercross 1. I only wish the career mode in MXGP at least was a little more in depth, but MXGP 2020 is still a fantastic game and it's not filled with micro transactions. MX vs ATV is way to arachic for my liking now. I liked alive and reflex but I only played a 1/4 of the game. I'll support milestone because if it wasn't for them MX games probably would have died.

Totally up to you. MX vs ATV is more arcade like and extreme while MXGP is more realistic and authentic

personally i hate All Out, and just could not get into it as much as i’ve tried. I would go with GP 2020. The track editor makes for a lot of replay ability

OBSERVATION 3: I was racing a mudder and noticed the rider and bike never got muddy at all. In fact, they look like they're still out in the full sun. This is completely out of context. By the way, I'm making this observation from the TV camera mode. This mode may not be very important to some, but for those of us that enjoy watching the race in a more realistic mode such as TV and GoPro, this is very important to us. OBSERVATION 4: The audio is really bad when the scenes change during TV mode. Don't know about the other modes. This really needs to be looked into and corrected.

OBSERVATION 5: This is the last one I have for now and I know it may strike a sensitive chord and I apologize. But it seems the bike is way too sensitive (at least for me). Meaning, it moves like MX/ATV All Out or something. "Milestone, please don't go backward with this game. You have always maintained a good balance between arcade and simulator. We don't need just another Rainbow game, we already have them." To be specific, when coming down from a jump, if you turn the bike in mid-air, when you contact the ground you just take off in the new direction in a very un-natural way. This is extremely unrealistic - it's way too arcadish. I think I speak for most of us when I say we're not looking for a Rainbow replica, just an improved MXGP experience.

I feel like almost everything your describing is because you use that far camera. I use the default camera because the physics feel better. I tried the far camera you like and the game feels more acade-ish.

Why do they make the bikes feel so heavy in these games. Super cross doesn’t feel that way. Why can’t they take the same physics from the supercross game? Just because they set up differently doesn’t mean the bike is heavier.

The game is awesome until you're going along in your career mode and you get into a race and the frame rate drops to 10 frames per second. It happens randomly and it's been happening ever since they did their patch yesterday where they added the camera and the track Creator mode the game becomes literally unplayable. So once again another company tosses out an unplayable broken product before it's ready #mxgp2077

I think it’s a product of the game being released initially with so many features missing. There’s still plenty of bugs in the game currently too and people tend to immediately go hard negative when a couple things are wrong. I wouldn’t say it’s a 10/10 game but it’s definitely not a 0/10 like some are saying in the steam reviews

I wouldn't say Rush the creators because they're not like a big name company like other companies like 2K people like 2K should know exactly what they're doing so like when they make NBA 2K 21 they absolutely completely ruined their franchise since 2K17 and their games have been absolutely awful since I feel like people should get on those big name companies just because they do that the smaller companies will do as much when they can not all games are going to be perfect

MXGP 2019 was fantastic, but they screwed up this game. Made it like Supercross 3 and that's not a good thing. Then what happened to the mud ripping up? Now are definitely going with these Mx vs ATV garbage. Yeah, I will keep playing 2019 it's more realistic.
