Wow. Since I started learning, I'm catching on faster than I expected. As an Autistic who goes nonverbal at times, I'm starting to think that it's a better way to communicate instead of just making sounds and pointing.

Yes yes! I’m autistic too and find using AAC apps embarrassing to use and possibly disruptive during class so I decided to learn sign. Less people will understand, but it makes me comfortable when nonverbal and people are less likely to ask questions

@@SerfOfTheYear Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom doesn't want to learn sign, but I'm still learning because I think it'll be beneficial on campus. And true; the less likelihood in questions you never asked for, the better. I get a lot of questions on campus about it, because they think I look too normal to be like Autistic, and ofc, nonverbal at times. But this will definitely help deflect a lot of questions I don't want to answer or have to explain. Good points, and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone 😅👌

Normally you use your dominant hand, once you start signing with that hand to deaf people they will get used to you using that hand to sign. Your non-dominant hand is called "WH" aka Weak Hand. You don't have to mirror what hand people use to sign, just do whatever makes you feel comfortable🤟

It’s about the same sign, gotta be careful when signing “good morning” with one hand. Usually just raising your hand an inch or two makes sure you don’t say anything inappropriate.
