My kitten kept throwing up. That is how we knew. Could not get fecal sample because she could not keep food down. Scooting too.

One of my cats threw up a glob of roundworms a few years ago. No other symptoms. Had to treat all 4 cats and never knew which one threw them up. Also had a community cat throw up roundworms on my patio as seen on video. She had been losing weight. I started adding pet grade diatomaceous earth to the food I gave the community cats. (Found info on line) She gained weight and looks healthy now. My vet never suggests testing the stool or treating my last 2 cats for parasites. Why not? They go outside in my backyard for a short period.

be careful with the diatomaceous earth.. my cat has very long hair and the hair and Dia earth turned into a rock in her intestines.. vet had to do surgery to remove it.

@lushpaw1 Good to know. I add a measured amount and don't use too much or every feeding. These are community cats, and I also give them canned food.

I just paid a couple hundred bucks to get my cats treated for worms back in April, today I find out they have round worms and I’m not sure if I’m being unreasonable here or not. It was this liquid treatment I applied to their back between the shoulder blades. I’m pretty irritated atm, I’d I knew the treatment wasn’t guaranteed I’d have gotten them a follow up a few months ago. I’m very angry with the vet right now.

They don't necessarily have to eat a mouse to catch the parasitic worms just holding a mouse in this mouth is enough and also through Fleas from the mice or anywhere fleas come in contact with your Cats skin.

Thank you for sharing! When humans contract roundworms, Ascariasis, we give PO anthelmintics for treatment as well.

Is there a way a vet can tell if a cat has roundworms (or any other worms) without a fecal sample? I ask because I have a a cat who is outside most of the time that I care for, but doesn't use the litter box.

Our cat had what looked like lice or tiny maggots around his bum hole. He was a rescue that probably ate fish/seafood. He’s becoming more affectionate after a round of medication. 🎉. Our 3 other cats and 2 dogs did not get infected.

I found out my late cat had roundworm when he threw them up after eating a mouse outside a few days earlier 🤢🤢🤢🤢 Treated him immediately and he got better really quickly ❤

@@littleshyyu no, we didn’t take him to the vet. We bought a dewormer, gave it to him, and we never saw the worms being vomited again. The dewormer did it’s job

@@Official_D3voit well we never saw the worms again after that one vomit, so I assume immediately but I could be wrong. We could have missed signs but he definitely got better quickly and lived to be 12 and a half years old. He passed a year ago due to a heart condition unfortunately 💔
