Tbh sometimes I do realize that I am one upping my friends, but I’m not doing it to make myself feel better. It’s just when they do it then it makes me feel tempted to try even though I know I have more experience so I’ll probably end up doing better so then I feel bad one upping someone and just like when my friend was better at something else I still get tempted to do it though she’s better at that so I wouldn’t say I do it because I’m trying to one up her I just do it because now I’m tempted to try and it just gave me an idea to do something else rather than just scribbling on paper. I’d say I do it just cause I’m tempted to do it and I wanna do it permission so I can I copy this and like try it myself, but then when I tell her, she’s gonna want the end result.

For example, if I AP (all perfect) a difficult song in a rhythm game, a friend saying "Haha, I bet you couldn't do that again!" would be rude. If I were to fail the song entirely, saying "You kinda suck at this song." would be true. If they're saying something that's objectively correct in the moment, then they most likely aren't fake. I guess it all comes down to personalities, but I personally can't stand sugar coating. Don't claim people that you barely have any information on fake if you don't know how their personality is entirely.

I previously had a best friend... She was horrible at singing but since she enjoyed it, I always encouraged her... I kept feeling like she was toxic because sometimes she would get very angry at me saying that I insulted her and then block me and remove me from group chats that included my other friends. When she would literally insult me and talk bad about me, I would just laugh it off because I had no good friends at the time and it was the pandemic period. After she would remove me from the group chats, I would have to almost beg for her to add me back in... She would always be mean and after the schools got started, she stopped talking to me as much, which I thought was because she needed to study and all but then I kept seeing her talking to her other friends... She keeps complaining about how badly she sings and everyone then comforts her... We had an interschool competition and she had started that act again. I knew if she would have participated, we would never win and so I gently told her that she was not well suited for our group... She then got very angry and then shouted at me infront of everyone standing... Later, her mother called me and told me that I would not have any friends if I behaved like that... Now I do tend to be a protective type of friend... But I value friendship so I gave her some space but after some days the ignoring, hurling of insults in front of my friends and a dirty looks from across the table got so bad that I went during recess to call her outside and talk things over if I was causing some problems... She said yes and I waited and waited but she did not come... I went again to check and there she was laughing and joking with her friends who were previously mine... I felt my face get hot and I could only see red at that point so I went there and slapped her right across the face and mind you, this was almost after 6 months of suffering from her antiques. I know that I might have gone too far but at that time, it was worth it... Two of our mutual "friends" had come to inform me that I was wrong and tried to talk over me and make me apologize but I ignored them because I thought that I was finally free but later in the evening, her mother again called my mother this time and I went absolutely furious when I heard my mother apologize to her in my stead... That was about 5 months ago and till this day I feel angry just by looking at my so-called then "best friend" but I still feel so lonely because the turned a lot of people to oppose me and so I do not get much company for the 6 hours of school.. I do not understand, am I really the one at fault here? I feel really lost and lonely having no one to talk to anymore and there being some problems in the family, nowadays I feel even more lonely... Can anyone please advise me on what to do?

I had a friend like this in high school! She was so toxic, but I still stayed with her for too long because she was the only one there for me after I had a fall out with my main friend group (also over jealousy because I started hanging out too much with one of the girls and her best friend hated me because of it). She was also there for me when I was at my lowest point, so I felt like I owed her my friendship. I got my hair done and was like “Do you like my hair?” and she told me it looked like shit. I’m so glad I was eventually able to grow as a person and drop her. If you have a friend like this, then you deserve better, ladies!

Things are not always about you. Sometimes people can act like that after something bad at home, or some bad event. Your job then is to comfort them, not say “Your just jealous of me!” And it’s important to communicate properly, maybe ask why they have been acting like this. And in some cases, yea, they could be jealous of you. But it is still important to be able to talk to someone about something, and that makes you a trustworthy and loyal friend. And, you are not the center of the universe. Not everything’s about you. And I hate how you are teaching people to feel the same, because it is our job to educate the public with information worthy of their time. ❤
