I'll give it a try :): ////////////////////LYRICS///////////////////////////// You knew of me, I knew of you, we always knew how this would end. You missed me, I missed you, when we lost the ground beneath our feet. Now we lie here, all ice cold and blue, bones shivering, half dead from cold. (Iceberg) You never say anything, you're an iceberg, you are covered in ice, you remain silent, hiding beneath. (Iceberg) You never say anything, you're an iceberg, you are covered in ice, you remain silent, hiding beneath. You steer into me, I steer into you, Now we turn into (a) fire, alone and abandoned. Sparks fly from me, sparks fly from you, sparks fly from us both, burning until we become ashes. (Iceberg) You never say anything, you're an iceberg, you are covered in ice, you remain silent, hiding beneath. (Iceberg) You never say anything, you're an iceberg, you are covered in ice, you remain silent, hiding beneath. You never say anything, you're an iceberg, you are covered in ice, you remain silent, always. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Now, it has to be said that I don't know a word Icelandic. But I am Norwegian, so about half the words are very similar to some of ours. With a bit of imagination, and a little help of google translate, I came up with this. It's a very literal translation, and I have no idea how the grammar is supposed to be, but it seems rather meaningful to change from past tense after the first two verses. And the word on the end is improvised, because Jonsi sings something other than what is written. (I couldn't make it out.) Hope you like it, and greetings from Norway :)

This music (as most of their rest work) could easily be, mankind's message to any extra-terestial civilazation, possibly living out there, for "what is this thing, we call Music"...Biggest band ever lived on our "pale blue dot" in this vast universe ! Thank you for another Uniquely Unprecedented album ! Many thanks also, for releasing the LP yesterday, in Greece (it was a great and unexpected gift to hold the vinyl, earlier than awaited).Guð Blessi Sigur Rós! Takk Jónsi,Goggi,Orri &Kjarri, too!

I'm speechless. When I saw Sigur Rós in Reykjavik last fall and I realized that Kjartan had left the band - I thought that the glory days of Sigur rós was over. I was not entirely convinced of the new single brennisteinn they played at the concert. But this song is absolutely mind blowing and I'm absolutely convinced that the new album will be totally incredible. I can't wait for the release! TAKK Sigur Rós! You have changed my life forever.

What I find great about Sigur Ros is that no matter how much they change around, they are always clearly Sigur Ros. I mean, Jonsi's distinct vocal style sorta helps that a lot, but even musically I feel that.

Jonsi's voice sinks into a strong and colorful musicality. it does not put that sense of melancholy but still intimate, pure. One of the best songs of Sigur Ros in recent years. Dreaming. They always did this way. Something that can neither be reproduced nor copied.

Thumbs up if you're avidly reading every single word even though you have no idea what they mean, because: Sigur Ros. I kind of like not knowing, though, it's part of the appeal,. You get to interptet it how ever you like. I especially like when the lyrics are in Hopelandic, because that gives the music an especially universal feel as no one really knows what what he sings in that made up language. Kind of like Michael Stipe did in R.E.M's earlier years.

I did that. Not exactly like that, but kind of. For 4 weeks I went to Iceland. I did some voluntary work in this isolated town to keep myself busy. This isolated town was 8 kilometres near the Arctic circle. But to get there we had to travel. We needed 3 days of travelling to the town from Reykjavik and 2 days to go back. I have seen so much, witnessed so many beautiful things. And I'm so happy I went to Iceland only because of this one song I once heard from Sigur Ros.

That's the whole idea with their gibberish language "hopelandic" that they've implemented in a lot of their songs, but for the most of us (who don't speak Icelandic) the songs with an actual meaning has the same effect as the ones who feature Hopelandic. It also helps that Icelandic is an endlessly beautiful and dreamy language.

No one creates music like they do. I'm amazed at how much ground this band covers, yet it always still sounds, quintessentially, like Sigur Ros. Just looking at the past 4 albums (including this one), Med Sud was so much different than Takk, then we got the beautifully restrained Valtari, and now this Kveikur, which seems to be Valtari's antithesis. I'm in love.
