Batter is actually inspired from a very famous Indian movie Lagaan (which means taxes) which is about Indians fighting against British colonizers for freedom, but instead of guns, the British challenge in cricket, because Indians didn't know anything about that game. But the hero, batter learns it, makes a team, and defeats them for freedom.

Actually the problem with batter is that the game gives you a reticle but its on top of his head so you cant use it, not that the devs meant for you to struggle aiming with him. Thats just bad game design if you ask me, but I have a lot of success aiming when I aim with the head instead.

I prefer quick tap the bat when kiting cuz usually when I kite and I hold it, the hunter will walk left and right to dodge it, unless I'm on rampage mode. So I honestly don't think he's broken cuz he does take skill, game sense and knowledge

This "coding error" cancels out the Rampage error. It says that only when you hit a cricket ball with rampage to a wall, then it will break. However, even when you hit it at the hunter with rampage, it disappears.

For Altruism, I believe its fair that he gets the speed boost even when outside of 18 meters and am even surprised he needed to be 18 meters. To me, 18 meters seems too close to the hunter to warrant the speed boost anyways and this helps him fit his role as a protector. As for it not being fair for the hunter, id say its still fair because it's still two people not working on a cipher and if the batter doesn't perform as well, it can apply pressure on both survivors. If this was an intentional change, I'd say its a good play from the devs, but if not, then this unintentional error strengthens him as a protector character. Edit: I also believe this is fine is because the worst feeling a protector like forward and cowboy will have is when on a big map and the survivor who needs help is on the other side and you can't do much about it. With batter, you now have a chance to make it to the survivors and help them without your skill feeling a bit wasted due to distance.

I've read the original chinese explanation , and I do believe it is a mistranslation ! the chinese one says , outside of 18 meters ! while the english one says within 18 meters if I'm not mistaken !

As a batter main. If you have a very good accuracy then he's completely broken as he is very good at assisting and his ability can knock away/stun hunter. And with fast vault obstable speed this can possibly turn him into one of characters who you shouldn't hunt in early game (Like how Mercenary and Forward do). He's very broken but also hard to play,still difficulty don't stop characters to be broken (which is why Dream witch is top tier despite her extremely difficult gameplay)

also worth mentioning that activating the rage ability will reset the bat cooldown. i think hes very good, but not broken. he can counter hunters abilities and hunters can break the balls and zigzag to attempt to dodge, bait him into wasting a ball, etc. since he was on the test server for a while, i think altruism just has a translation error. a bug that big shouldve been fixed before release. even with it working outside 18 meters, i dont think its overpowered, because most of the time you will be decoding when other people are being chased. he just came out so we’ll have to see what players are capable of doing with him soon

I feel like the altruism thing said if you're within 18 meters and ur not being chase it'll activate but if you're being chase or the game somehow counts that you're being chase it won't be activated, and if you're not within 18 meters it'll still activate If teammate got hit so I honestly think it's a mistranslation from the dev

Its either a mistranslation or they coded something wrong in the game, but someone else here told me its actually a mistranslation and that its supposed to activate outside 18 meters (which makes the "not being pursued" part super redundant since you must be within 18 meters to also be pursued)

Forward's stun Is better at balloon rescues and chair rescues since it can last longer, Batter's chair rescue after rescue support is good and forwards too but batter's balls last longer if you don't spam rampage

I think together they are even stronger actually. Forwards really good and consistent at balloon rescues and Batter is really consistent at supporting midkite while also conserving the bat.

If you're picking between the two, I'd say batter. Wildling isn't reliable at harassing, and is instead used in tournaments as that one survivor that the hunter can never catch so they can get 1 escape out at least. After his nerf though hes not even useful at that. He's just not a good survivor in general

Theres a little cursor in the middle of the screen: thats where the cricket ball goes. Also this video was made before batters buff a long time ago. Today he has the ability to use a ball and then go on rampage to remove the cooldown instantly.
