Sikorsky S-76 Start-Up & Takeoff Twin-Engine Executive N76FL Just Like Queen Elizabeth II Helicopter

Wow, C/N 760347. Here in NJ, the NJ State Police used to have 5 S-76B's. N1NJ C/N 760331 - the original training ship with standard rear doors - purchased new in 1986. N5NJ C/N 760346 - purchased new in 1988 - Medevac helicopter NorthSTAR with sliding rear doors (covering northern half of NJ). N9NJ C/N 760345 - purchased new in 1988 - Medevac helicopter SouthSTAR with sliding rear doors (covering southern half of NJ). So, N72FL is a 'sister' of N5NJ and N9NJ. After Sept 11th, the NJ State Police purchased 2 more S-76Bs - for a total fleet of 5. N7NJ C/N 760409 - a 1992 model purchased used in 2002, had standard rear doors and was refitted with medevac interior. N8NJ C/N 760391 - a 1991 model purchased used in 2006, had sliding rear doors and was refitted with medevac interior. In 2012 they sold all 5 and purchased 5 new AW139s. N8NJ was eventually purchased by a South Korean fire department. It crashed in 2020 with no fatalities. Ship was non-repairable.

@@EdWhisenantAviation No prob. I love the 'B', but I miss seeing and hearing those 5 B's on a regular basis. The B's have a very identifiable sound when flying - kind of like a V-8 or a Harley Davidson. I don't think it's the P&W PT6's, but the Allison 250's in the A and the Turbomeca Arriel's in the C are much quieter than the 'B'. I think it's the engine nacelles and more specifically the large exhaust on the B's that help give it that unique sound. I haven't seen a or heard a 'D' in person, but it also has large exhaust stacks so I wonder if it has a similar sound to the 'B'.

Great catch Ed! Great video as always! Man I must be getting old. When I was a younger man the -76 was flying everywhere, offshore, EMS, VIP. Nowadays the type has become obsolete and I seldomly see one today.

I miss seeing N109EX. My friend actually has it in a hangar but I cannot say where for security. He picks up wrecked aircraft and has the FAA check them to see if they can be repaired by any chance. Sadly, The 109 was a "no repair" situation.

Agreed. In most of the S-76 videos I've seen, they seem to prefer rolling take-offs on the west coast. Out here on the east coast, they do vertical....even if they're at an airport.
