I bought an EP these guys released back somewhere around 2002 or 2003, can't really remember- and I waited anxiously for The Trees Are Dead and Dried Out (one of my favorite albums ever). Then I waited for Death of a Dead Day (also really fucking awesome).... and holy fuck I was so disappointed when I heard they broke up.....fast forward to like a decade later and they've fucking released Opacities and now this teaser for what is to come.... Thank you Sikth for doing what you do, you are far more appreciated than you probably know! I thought I would never hear more of your wonderful music, but I'm so motherfucking damn-ass happy that you've given us more of your wizardy! I'm a long-time fan, and always will be! There are many imitators...but the king of them all remains, SikTh, and so it shall always be...

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. The guitar work is excellent, but the vocals seem to lack cohesiveness. Granted it took me a long time to get into to Sikth at all, because of the vocals. So maybe after a few more listens I'll "get" it.

I LOVE the vocals in the first full record (trees innit). Sikth, as mental as they are, have hooks - they range from a weird scream to a sweet chant or whatever. But this just didn't do it for me vocally. No hooks :/ (wierd that i want that from them haha) - but new guy is badass for sure. Well trained. Musically, amazing track though. I reckon this wont be my fave on the album, but that just means I think others will be a lot better :P

I think it's wrong at this point to expect another TTADADOWFSW or DOADD. This is solid but seems to lack the nuance of the older stuff. You could tell the older stuff had been written over a longer period and the tracks had had time to breathe. All the same, I literally cannot wait for the new album. An album i never thought I would hear!

Is the new guy even singing on this track? If he is then his voice is too similar to Mikees.
@DigitalDevil948 жыл бұрын
His singing voice is a lot closer to Mikees, but if you hear any high pitched scream that sounds vaguely like Justin? That's the new guy. He doesn't have many solo parts, mostly alternating with the high pitched shrieks at the end and some of the clean parts in the verses. Best examples are 0:32, 1:42, and the low ass operatic voice in the chorus that's him.
@Rosser_Music8 жыл бұрын

It certainly grew on me. Sometimes a mix just takes a while to adapt to. Like thousands of evils by vildhjarta, i HATED the mix originally but after a while it sort of clicked and then i could appreciate everything else without distraction. With this new song from sikth, it took a few listens to "get" what they were trying to do, and what's changed. I'm loving it.

Ok. I've lived with the album for a while now and I still think it's their weakest record Strangely it has nothing to do with the change of vocalist . Although do kinda miss Justins vocals I think I miss his production more.
@raresmacovei83826 жыл бұрын
True. It's easily their weakest album. Not all tracks manage to maintain the craftsmanship, originality and insanity.
@thisisexile668 жыл бұрын
Nope. It's just not doing it for me. I liked the latest EP, but it was missing some of the magic that DOADD had going for it. And I'm not trying to be that guy, but I simply don't enjoy this new "streamlined" Sikth like I used to. It's too predictable and fails to wow me like the older jams. I'm sorry. I still support the hell out of them.
@paulgibson99367 жыл бұрын
It's kinda funny how they get excited. I remember when the lyrics were poetry. Try explaining this, nice musical, troth of Consumer delight. You need a wishbone, omg. I got ears, ok some solution is needed but that's beside the point of my hearing, it gets better, this won't. This delightfully sucks. where are the key changes what made you sound so different, interesting. I'm not asking for better than Mudvayne 2.0 again, though that's an easy target. Just mess it up in a good way and who asked for a darlik singer part for f**k sake.
@KnjazNazrath6 жыл бұрын
Lyrics are poetry when they're on a page. They just put the poetry in music, there's no need to get irate. It's not like the words are gonna damage 'ya just 'cause they're not in iambic pentameter.
