Tay, l enjoy watching you mowing and making hay. Could you please make a full video showing just haying? Only thing missing is the sweet aroma of fresh cut hay. I grew up with only John Deere equipment and we used to say "put green on your fields and you won't see red in your ledgers ". However, I love all tractors and I would rather be on one than to take a vacation anywhere. Keep making farm videos and I will always watch. I am a Virginia boy now but was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Never been to Maine but you make it look so good. Thanks for sharing.

I was glad to see you put the headphones on. I’m 63 and never had a cab for my first 35 years. I donated quite a lot of my hearing to a rig just like that. Especially my left ear which was always towards the muffler. But I fixed that by putting a fender mount radio on the tractor so I toasted my right ear with that.🤣 Anyway, when you get older you still want to be able to hear the sweet nothings that your sweetheart may whisper in your ear……

You're mower is not assembled wrong. I think it's correct and is done that way so you can use the same shaft with either a 1000 or 540 tractor. If you want to use the 1000 RPM PTO on your tractor, then you would switch the driveshaft end for end. That would put the correct 1000 RPM coupler on the tractor side and the 540 on the gearbox side. It's actually really clever!
@ProtonOne11
@ProtonOne11 8 күн бұрын
In her application, where the tractor has a 1000 PTO, i guess it would actually make more sense to flip the drive shaft and use the 1000 PTO. Since the mower is a high RPM implement, it would probably be more fuel efficient because the transmission in the tractor would not have to gear down to the 540 PTO and then gear up again for the higher RPM in the mower gearbox.

No, the pto gearbox isnt upside down or wrong. Its their way of telling you to use one or the other using only 1 shaft, you flip the pto shaft end for end. 540, your correct. 1000, flip shaft and raise up to 1000 shaft. Its actually pretty clever, otherwise youll have another $1500 shaft laying around, somewheres, hidden, not to be found. Lol And most i know that have the option for running a 1000, they do, less rpm and less power requirements and possibly saves on fuel.
@Aaronenginepower
@Aaronenginepower 2 ай бұрын
The splines have nothing to do with the speed of the shaft. They use the "540" spline on the 1000 input and the "1000" spline on the 540 input so that you can use the same shaft between the tractor and the mower for either input by just turning the shaft around. Otherwise you would need two different shafts.

Soon I will celebrating my 75th Birthday. I do have a couple of granddaughters you age and I can tell you they will never come close to your abilities. Here locally I do know of a lady that owns and operates a dairy farm. How she does all the work, I will never know. Here in Southern Somerset County Pennsylvania we have some big dairy farm. Knowing few, I find all of the farm girls work as hard as the guys, Milking, and running equipment. Thanks you so much for you taking the time to do the videos.

The gearbox isnt stamped wrong. You flip the shaft over, and the 6 spline goes at the gearbox end for 1,000 rpm. The 21 spline goes at the gearbox end for 540. You can get 200 hp out of that easily. The 414 block is common to the 436 and 466. DT466 crank, rods, and pistons swap right in. Just dont let it get traction. We made that mistake once. We ended up with the 786 on the 411 because of rocks. It threw one that hit my uncle in the eye running it on the 756.

Y'all should have bought the Simental calf. Semintal is one of the cross over breeds, you breed them to dairy cattle and they make great dairy cows. Breed them to beef cattle and they make great beef cows. We had the first Semintal dairy cows in South Mississippi, we were artificial breeding at the time and the guy we bought seman from had 10 straws of seman and couldn't sell it because it was a new herd in the US. So he gave it to us. We bred our best 10 cows with the Semintal seman. We ended up with 9 bulls and 2 heifers. We had one set of twins. We kept one bull and bred our beef cows with him, and finally milked the 2 heifers. One looked like a Holestien, the other looked like a Herford only lighter and both had rings around their eyes. They both milked an average of 80 to a 100 pounds of milk a day. Keep on farming, love the videos. I grew up on a dairy about the size you're on, but we never hired help, with 3 boys and 8 girls plus our parents, we had plenty help to run our little dairy. I still live on the place, but we run beef cattle now

Funny how you write Simental and Semintal. Actually it would be Simmental. It's a valley in Switzerland in the Alps, named after the little river Simme, that flows into the river Kander shortly before ending up in Lake Thun. We only had pure bred Simmental cows on our family dairy farm where i grew up.

Another great video sweetheart. The mower isn’t marked wrong. The thousand on top is to run it 1000 RPMs off the tractor you turn your PTO shaft around it’s all that you can just invert the PTO shaft without having to have a separate one that you could run it on thousand RPM which in my experience they seem to run easier when running on 1000 RPM. Looks like you got a lot of hay that’s good. Hopefully the cow works out well good to see you getting some haying done. The heifers look great.😊 Talk to you soon 🤗

Hay Tay, I found you the way I found my wife 47 yrs ago...by accident. I grew up on 26 acres in NE Mississippi. We always had a gentle horse for our city cousins to ride, pigs, chickens for our own eggs, corn for a calf or cow, water melons, bees, you know how it is. When I was 16 a friend of mine was on his way home, so he stopped by to see if I needed a summer job. I said sure and he said we start at 6. It was 9 PM. $1.30/hour. A farm in Texas had leased a thousand acres in Ms. I immediately took to the new 756 Turbo 1966? Farmall like yours. There were 2 bosses and about 8 of us. I loved pulling hay wagons on a gravel road with lots of hills just before dark. Watching that diesel roll against the sky was, and still is, good for my soul. I'm 71 and kinda busted up, but my brother and our families share 13 acres each. City folks need to get educated on politics or we will be out of food...and I still have milk with every meal; even pizza. Best wishes from iuka, Ms. Barry

Your mower gear box is marked correctly its just letting you know if you are using 540 on the tractor end that it need to be hooked up to the 1000 pto looking spine on the gear box . Its made that way so you can just simply turn the pto shaft around one end has a 540 the other has 1000 . Hope you understand I have a 302 also.

As other commenters have already said, the input shafts are that way on purpose, to allow the same driveline to be used regardless of whether the tractor has a 540 or 1000 rpm PTO. The manufacturer ships all machines with the same driveline and the farmer can choose which way to run it.

The reason for the splines being backwards is so you can use the same pto shaft, just flip it end for end to operate in 1000, that way the tractor side will be 21 spline otherwise you would need 2 pto shafts, one for 540 and one for 1000

The 1066 TURBO that my Dad purchased, new, in 1974 was rated at 125 horsepower. Nowhere near 200! He also bought a JOHN DEERE 4230 ,our first tractor with a cab, and it was rated at 100 horsepower. The 4230 was nowhere near as heavily built as the 1066 and in my opinion the only superior feature of the JD compared to the IH was the cab.
