I like how he's teaching precision control over joints. If you're accurate with your pressure, it doesn't take much force to break or force compliance. A lot of people teach sloppy or don't relay the idea that you "take all the slack out" of a joint BEFORE you try to manipulate it. Good stuff. Always like these vids. Thanks!

Honestly this video is something incredible. This teacher teaches something important: Do not be guide by apperances. This martial art is really easy, but it also requires coordination and skill.

For me the high level in the martial art is Silat. I realize that after I became Teakwondo, Karate and Muay Thai student . So sad and now learn Silat/Buah Pukul Mersing/Lian Padukan.

I get you. I did muay-thai for 7-8 years seriously.. I'm a part time instructor in MT too. But then I discovered Kun-tao, studying jurus and now I can't get enough of all various Silat styles. Not just 'cause it's vast, Muay-Boran have very many techniques and some style variations whether you've trained in chaeng-mai or like phuket etc. But because Silat is so much more fun ofc. :P Don't feel sorry though, martial arts should be a journey - enjoy the ride and be glad like me we know of it now and it's probably a good base to have, rather than none or some bullshido. So don't see it as a waste of time, you learned to apply your hip and kick mid body kicks that often put people down writhin in pain, you built physique and got rid of the instinct flinching/closing eyes at punches/whatnot coming at you, distance control, strong and good technically in clinch, flexible (esp from the TKD) and so on; The list of Pro's is long;) You could have gone with ballet or smth instead aswell too, life is funny that way - think on that alittle too :P

Just so you know Guru Maul of Silat Suffian has a two day NY seminar March 23-24 this year. I'm quite sure you'd love it. Not many people at all do what he does, in his way with such skill. If you have questions, let me know.

Alex Salas You may find Panantukan very interesting also. Similar roots to Silat, but more heavily Boxing based, though every single thing that is banned in Boxing is added. Is called Filipino Dirty Boxing. The flow in the system is incredible, as you will see if you look it up.

guru silat di indonesia semakin sedikit, banyak teknik yang hilang, they canot make a living from teaching silat because they're tradisional people who dont undserstand marketing... thats why many pendekar silat (practioner) more developing and famous outside indonesia... lets apreciate silat as art, martial arts, its belong to world wide, not just indonesian..

Well, as far as I’m concerned, there is nothing fundamentally wrong with KM - except for the attitude. Those guys (at least the ones I've met) are usually convinced that their system is the very best and all other styles are bull-shit to them. I trained KM in some clubs in Antwerp, Belgium and their attitude towards other clubs and styles just bothers me a lot. A good martial artist/ fighter should keep an open mind. There’s a lot to learn from other styles.

Brueni Silat ...hmmm I see some sancues and v-arnis princples in play here starting with the footwork, inside sector, outside sector ,V stepping shoulder and hip balance,is key with waist and the upper body and hip alignment ,,trapping the lead foot, circular arm movement ,protecting the center line with the defenders lead hand intercept and parry .Then striking with the rear hand and redirecting the opponents energy into a sweep, off balancing ,lock and take down OUsh.
