@@itskasces they compared it to an interview because that’s the process in which most people take to get a job. it’s not to be taken 100% literal. the point in everyone’s stance is that the superbowl doesn’t just pick people out of a hat, there are a lot of working parts to the selection process but the main key is to have your manager/team pitch to the superbowl why you should be the choice for the Halftime show over other artist. Wayne clearly didn’t have any of that happen, hence why he said he blamed himself for assuming the position would just fall on his desk.

When Kendrick dropped those back to back disses we had all of these impromptu podcasts, these oh i had to sneak a episode in for this moment. Where's the breaking news or the breaking coverage? I know this is a podcast but to Hiphop this is huge news. Diddy basically carried Hiphop into the next generation when Big and Pac passed. This should be breaking news worthy for any hip hop outlet. The residency in Vegas was just two days and it was June/July of this summer - by then the Super Bowl decision was already made. In additional to what you listed - Wayne often didn't come to sound checks, showed up late for shows, and left early (sometimes after only 15 minutes) if the crowd wasn't hype enough. And his performances weren't that great. That stuff matters as well.
