The fact that people are saying they’ll never listen to it again is exactly why hip hop is in the state it’s in. Not everything needs to be a head bopping party jam. This Kendrick song is prime hip hop, a poetic form of music.

It might be a easy song/ beat to dance to, but it’s not a easy song to “like” fr don’t get me wrong his message was recieved but I’m still not listening to that again… Kendrick did make “they not like us” to be a dance record/ bop record he a billion% did… to be fair we still don’t like that one , though it may be easy to dance to.

I don’t get why people are saying the timing is off. This is the perfect time to release a message song! EVERYONE went and listened to this song right when it came out because of the beef and I think it was a perfect time to give this message when all ears were on him.

He always releases a song before he releases an album. They’re usually called the heart part but due to Drake he called this one “untitled” they say it goes off the first song on his “untitled & unmastered” album. Joe saying this is way bigger than Drake is the truth.

Dot only made, "Not Like Us" because Drake said he couldn't. So, in record time, he made the hottest banger in years! He is letting us know he didn't get high off the epic response. He's still a man of substance and his mission is to bring substance back to the culture as a WHOLE. Dot has a purpose. His purpose is clear to him. He's merely fulfilling his purpose. Everyone connected to that purpose hears the call to act. We ain't really worried about how the rest receive it. Medicine doesn't always taste good but it makes you better. Dot is a medicine for this sick ass culture.

These are industry people, the party purveyors, if you will. Stop confusing them with ”the people”. They don't represent us, if the party died they are afraid their windfall will dry up. Of course they don't love it. I love the record, and have been playing everyday. It made me feel like putting on my ones to fight the good fight, and that track is addictive. The fact that he dropped it on 9/11 was genius too. RIP to all those casualties, they were just regular people going to work, that have become immortalized as foot soldiers in the war. To me, it's like the recessional hymn leaving church, strengthened to go fight evil. A rap jihad, so to speak. I know this is all over the place place, but it can apply to simply Drake, hip hop, black struggle, and worldwide struggle. I heard a young woman explain how it even made her consider the struggle Hatians are facing in their own country, and against bigotry and xenophobia here in the US. This song will be relevant 30 years from now. It's true art.

These dues lack so much critical thought is crazy. He literally already equated Drake to the state of hip-hop, so this means that every criticism of the current state of hip-hop is going to feel like a criticism of Drake. Joe Buddens is the only one that has a balanced take. If someone is trying to destroy and then rebuild, then the rebuilding process at the start and calmness. He already set everyone’s attention on lyrics so now this track is asking people to listen.

he dropped it on the same night of the VMA’s cause the culture congratulates the party over real hip hop and we done with it. The party tracks used to be an interlude not a standard. Now if you don’t have at least 75% party songs on your album it’s not getting major play unless your name is Kendrick or Jermaine.

To be 100 percent fair to the whole "bigger than Drake" point of view. He DID live on stage at his Pop Out concert say, "This is bigger than me, this aint got shit to do with no motherfucken song or a diss". He's been talking about Unity in the West Coast and has always been a hip hop Purist. He seems genuinely fed up with how hip hop sounds today. I'd also like to point out how Kendrick has taken up for the West Coast while Eminem has taken up for East side and both are currently dominating the game right now. Two people who actually care about hip hop.

Dude this is one thing I hate about you knew profound Kendrick lovers. Is that you never give criticism to him when he propped up people like Kodak Black and future. Future is one of my favorite artist but I could see that his music is mainly about bullshit. also if we keeping it real kendrick idols like Dr. Dre and snoop never been deep rappers. They rap about bullshit too and I’m saying that as someone who’s a fan of them Born and raised in California

@@Alwaysbelieve619 I have been listening to Kendrick for 7 years. I thought it was hypocritical for him to say “if I catch flight it’s gon be direct” while sneak dissing two people multiple times (Big Sean, Drake). I also did not like Kodak collabing with Kendrick. Just because I never said it in my original reply does not mean I never thought it. It was never brought up. Snoop and Dr Dre not being ‘deep’ rappers is your perspective. They are OGs in the game, respected for a reason you never bothered to figure out. The shit Dre has done alone is magnitudes higher than a lot of others.

@@sleepykami6566 hey I agree what you’re saying. But my point is for the perspective of dre and snoop is, you can bring up the same criticisms about Drake to those two guys to. Is this weird to me that Kendrick has a big problem with Drake but doesn’t call out Rick Ross Future and other rappers

But Drake represents "the industry" according to Kendrick (and a certain % of his fans). Which, I personally think is hilarious because Kendrick clearly, had "the industry" backing him during that beef. Fake shit. And I should say I love a lot of Kendrick's music, not all, but GKMC is a top 5 album in my book. Section.80 is one of, if not THE most underrated project ever and dude ran 2017. That music he was putting out during that time (DAMN, BP soundtrack, etc) was the soundtrack to my life for a good portion of almost 2 years.
