The whole point of this song was for kendrick to let yall know "just becuase i body slammed the party guy doesnt mean im gonna become the party guy, fuck him, fuck the party, and fuck yall". He took pressure off of himself, Dot knows everyone wants a banger out of him, instead he told yall to get the fuck out his face. Hes not gonna let his win in this battle turn him into someone hes not. I salute it.

But Drake represents "the industry" according to Kendrick (and a certain % of his fans). Which, I personally think is hilarious because Kendrick clearly, had "the industry" backing him during that beef. Fake shit. And I should say I love a lot of Kendrick's music, not all, but GKMC is a top 5 album in my book. Section.80 is one of, if not THE most underrated project ever and dude ran 2017. That music he was putting out during that time (DAMN, BP soundtrack, etc) was the soundtrack to my life for a good portion of almost 2 years.

To be 100 percent fair to the whole "bigger than Drake" point of view. He DID live on stage at his Pop Out concert say, "This is bigger than me, this aint got shit to do with no motherfucken song or a diss". He's been talking about Unity in the West Coast and has always been a hip hop Purist. He seems genuinely fed up with how hip hop sounds today. I'd also like to point out how Kendrick has taken up for the West Coast while Eminem has taken up for East side and both are currently dominating the game right now. Two people who actually care about hip hop.

The man said no round two so he wasn't even thinking about Drake any more. Transfer all that energy to Diddy and the song makes a lot more sense.

They missed the whole point of the song..the timing is perfect and is part of the point …it’s not meant to rewind..it’s part of a larger Narrative …he released it during a time when the whole industry is probably partying …hence the party must die….genius.

Does anyone on this panel remember the song I Use to love her by Common. They don't like it because this fucks with their pockets. Because some of them are the bullshit podcasters.

The message is culturally powerful and important, but fast food is more appealing than poorly seasoned soul food. Kendrick talking over a chill beat like that weakens the message. It's just counterproductive. People aren't incorrect when they say Kendrick's music is too often too boring. RAP!

These dues lack so much critical thought is crazy. He literally already equated Drake to the state of hip-hop, so this means that every criticism of the current state of hip-hop is going to feel like a criticism of Drake. Joe Buddens is the only one that has a balanced take. If someone is trying to destroy and then rebuild, then the rebuilding process at the start and calmness. He already set everyone’s attention on lyrics so now this track is asking people to listen.
