RuneScape 3 - Complete Beginner Action Bar Guide 2020

Hey guys! This video is an rs3 beginner action bar guide for 2020. In this guide, I'll be showing you the basics about abilities and action bars as well as showing you some of the best abilities in runescape 3 and some suggested action bar setups. This should be able to greatly help you improve your dps within combat in RuneScape 3. Ill also discuss a few afk action bars that you guys can use when doing afk combat methods, such as abyssal demons, muspahs and corrupted creatures. Ill also touch on ability rotations as well so you can increase your dps. This guide is basically a complete beginner action bar guide for runescape 3 2020. I see 1 problem with the mage bar, unless you are using full manual you would always want sonic wave or concentrated blast first followed by the next strongest ability you have for the increased crit. My bar is Sonic Wave/Con blast, dbreath, then corruption, combust, ect. Unless you are doing slayer tuskas wrath should never be after SW or CB. Even on revo switching between 2h and dual for the sonic and con blast every 3 autos is a giant increase in dps. Other then that the other 2 setups look pretty good. Just an opinion on the bar and if its a beginners guide some might not have corruptions unlocked so this would give them the best dps without having to buy a codex. Great vid man.

For dual wield ranged pvm, or any single target combat, you're better off having needle strike and snipe infront of corruption and frag shot. Theyre your two strongest ranged basics so you want them to trigger as much as possible.

It would help if you started out the video by explaining what an action bar is and how to use it... I watched 10 minutes and i still have no clue... I too came back after like 10 years. xD UPDATE: The setting I was missing was that my account automatically got flipped to "legacy combat mode" apparently, which you did mention around 7:30 :( It would have helped a LOT to put that at start, as the rest of the video is completely pointless with that setting on. xD

I also just recovered account and am stunned to see how far runescape has come. I have like 90 attack.. 91 strength 96 range.. so I have a ton of abilities and no idea how to set up my quick bar. This video helped, but in the future could you like hover your mouse over the abilities that you're talking about? You can look at these icons and just talk about them and know what you are talking about but for those of us coming back it is very hard to follow without you telling us what slot "snapshot" is etc

One little tip I would say as well is legacy’s one main use I’ve found is blood barraging combined with blood fury and vamp aura if you can, can make bossing afkable at some bosses

It’s a lot more expensive than I thought. Unless you’re someone who loves ranged, I would suggest corruption blast first because magic an be used for afk methods much better than ranged.

Please understand that you put "beginner action bar guide" in the title. If you have to do quest or buy stuff then it becomes advanced. I was hopping for an action bar with nothing from quest or that cost 30 mil (beginners don't have 30 mil). Totally get where you were coming from but you can always use your best judgement to use an alternative in the mean time. & if you’re desperate enough for a skill you can buy, 30 mil takes a few hours if you farm rose bushes at het, farm gilded whirligigs, farm archeology & sell everything, farm snails, etc. you could find many others that require more work for higher profit easily too. Also, I only did quests to unlock things as I went along at the start.

Yes, it’s the abilities you should use once you hit 100% adrenaline

Smash is not an aoe ability, also normal dazing shot does not have damage over time damage, while greater dazing shot deal a very small damage over time which i wouldn’t count as a damage over time ability anyways, at least not for afk methods

I think you have kinda mistitled the video, make it look like it's a bard for beginners to the game, but you have abilities that I don't even know how to get so i'm now having to search around to find where those abilities are.

all of these abilities are the bare minimum and very easy to get. this is very much so a beginner setup. lvl 85 combat stats can easily be gotten in a few hours at the abyss, and world wakes quest is easy as pie with no requirements for the sunshine and deaths swiftness abilities, sacrifice is an easy drop from god wars dungeon 1 and tuskas wrath you just have to play an un-loseable minigame for about an hour or so. this video is very much properly titled

why do you have the same ability on different slots(and different keybinds) for dual wield vs 2h? why not just keep the position and keybind for similar abilities the same? (assault, asphyx and rapid fire on the same key ; zerk sun and death swift on the same key, etc) this means you'll always know what kind of ability a certain keybind does, this way you don't have to completely re-learn your abilities/keybinds when you switch styles/weapons

Silenced, I'm taking out slice, kick and Havoc/smash out of the revolution slots. the reason being is that slice is gonna be used to cancel fury, kick is gonna be used to cancel channeled attacks of enemy and havoc/smash to take down the prayer protection of the enemy. So, in all this situations, i need to have more control of when does this abilities need to happen. What do u think?

Just started playing the game. It's a little overwhelming trying to have sense of what to prioritize and making efficient use of my very limited game time. I'd love some direction of what makes sense. I have been leveling Slayer to increase my combat stats mining and forging to make my own equipment and I've neglected everything else for the most part. I'm running into issues where I'm not able to do Slayer quests because I don't have the right level of firemaking or agility to gain access to monsters for a task and I'd like to know if I should switch focus to be more well rounded or continue to power level what I'm already focused on?

You can go to the powers tab and drag the abilities to your action bar. Make sure the small lock icon on the action bar is unlocked

@@christopherjackson4970 so what i figured out was that. Since i played both mobile and rs3 on the laptop. I ended up having to change the rs3 settings on mobile so it can work on the laptop. Idk how that made sense lol but thats what worked for me. Do you play mobile?

Hmm, no i dont play on mobile. I made a little progress. I wiped all my action bars and now when I'm set to an empty bar. My character will just use abilities lol. Its so wierd

They are still great for beginners. There have been some new abilities and upgraded abilities since the video was created which change things, but this is only if you have these unlocked. For example, if your have Greater Richochet, then you will want that ability first in your ranged action bar.

I am trying to get back into the game, is there a way to drop everything in my inventory? Lets say my inventory is full after fishing, can i drop everything right there and then? Or is there a way to drop all of a specific item on the ground? It is a pain to drop an item at a item.

You can add raw fish to your action bar and hold on the keybind for that slot to drop all quickly

It doesn't matter what I do with my settings revolution simply wont work for me. I have my bar all set up, I have the combat option set to revolution and all three boxes checked for ability usage. I have my revolution set to use all ability bar options and auto retaliate on. Still my character just sits and does the basic attack unless I manually click an ability. Anyone have any ideas? There must be a setting im missing or something

Have you got the right style of weapon equipped? If you have a staff on with all ranged abilities on the bar, it is only going to auto attack.

Are your abilities on the primary action bar? Only the primary action bar is affected by revolution. Primary bar is the one with HP, Prayer, Adrenaline, and Summoning points.

@@ambiguoususername2966 I have my action bar set to primary bar with the melee 2h option set, which is what I am using and still my character auto casts. I have it set to revolution but still I have to manually click each ability for it to trigger. Im not sure why this isnt working honestly.

@@Killerspiderpig Yes I do, the bar I have set as my primary bar is a 2h melee option and I am using a 2h weapon. I can use the abilities when I select them manually and everything works fine. When I turn on revolution it just doesn't activate and my character auto attacks.

@@GibblesOP Put your Ultimates and Thresholds at the front of your action bar - when Revolution is on the first available abilty is the one that activates, so if you have your Ultimate in the first slot it will activate at 100% adrenaline(or be the first to activate as soon as any ability in progress finishes). Also make sure you have ticked the auto trigger boxes in the options menu.
