I found the manual, the instructions seemed simple enough, and yet when I went to actually follow through I felt like an idiot. The tip about buttons A B and C to the left of the digital panel is what made it work for me! I couldn't even access the menu before this.

Thank you for your perseverance and instructions. Our new SHEM78WH5N/21 dishwasher was a (very quiet) hit with the family except for the light sleepers. I suspect Bosch would have endured complaints no matter what the factory setting for the beep volume was, and it turns out the manual does indeed have instructions on how to do this, but you need to think like a programmer in order to get to the program options and then determine what secondary combinations of buttons do to alter the computer program that controls this beastie. Your investigative work and patience is much appreciated.

Awesome. Any other things that can be adjusted through hidden menus? My biggest disappointment with this dishwasher has been that the light on the floor goes out at the end of the wash cycle yet Bosch recommends waiting 20-40 minutes before opening it for air drying to complete. If your not hearing the beep and not watching the light go out, there is no way to know when to open the door. Any adjustments or hacks you know of would be appreciated.

Use an alarm on your cellphone to keep track of time. You know how long it takes for the cleaning cycle to finish, add 20 or 40 min, and setup the alarm. You will have another beep :) letting you know when to open the door, but this can be controlled easier.
