Oh god, I miss Ireland. I studied and lived there in the early 80s for about 8 years. I lived in Galway and Cork, and was the only black guy probably in the country. I'm Ireland's adopted son. What a lovely place it is with lovely people. I've been meaning to go back since leaving in the late 80s, but just haven't had the opportunity to do so. That garda was very polite, and reminded me of the chilled out nature of the people.
@scottscott2322 жыл бұрын
@Saoirse Eireann It would seem so strange to see that. When I was there, I'd listen to the 'see-saw' tone of Gaelic being spoken in the Gaeltacht areas, and marvel at how complex the language is. Total strangers would invite you parties, or a meal, and it wasn't unusual to encounter a storyteller in an old rural pub telling traditional stories about a Madra Dubh whilst caressing a glass of guinness. I miss those days so badly. I don't think I'd go back now because I'd be disappointed by not being able to relive those memories.
@DonegalOverlanding2 жыл бұрын
@@scottscott232 it is a changed place. There has been massive amounts of immigration. You would certainly not be the only black person anywhere in the entire country anymore.
