It's because she lashed out especially at James while he wanted more than ever to stay close to her that he killed her... What James did was only emotional, he hated Mary for what she made him bear, but didn't know how much she was suffering inside and how guilty she felt about James; all these things that James learns...to late...in Mary's goodbye letter... A lot of people think this letter isn't real, but only James' imagination. I can't agree with it.

Why would he? Eddie and Maria never interacted. Pyramid Head killed her the two other times, why would this one all of a sudden be Eddie?

The scene was supposed to represent James as a murderer (take note of the injury to Maria's face, Mary had the same marks on her face). Eddie never met or even saw Maria, but I had the idea once that he may have killed her. But that is not what happened. It was either the Pyramid Head thing or the town itself that killed her there.

Mary's disfigured face was because of the illness (hence why in the hallway monologue she cries about how hideous she looks). The marks on Mary's face had nothing to do with the murder, they were there long before it. Maria may have been beaten to death, but those markings are in no relation or connection to Mary's.

Gaming adaptations are always best if it's about the concept itself, it can be different characters within Silent Hill, we can discover what they're like and it would be beautiful or the opposite.
