Yeah and this theme is very fitting for Maria. It makes me think that this ending isn’t actually all that bad even though it is story-wise. I also see it as a tribute for such a beloved character. Maria has a butterfly motif which symbolizes rebirth or new life and hope and for me, James wanting to go with her may be symbolic of starting a new life.

Sucks that this song plays during the (what I would call the bad ending). Because in the "Maria" ending, it is suggested that Maria will fall ill just Mary did. James will snap, kill Maria, and be drawn back to Silent Hill and have to repeat the whole ordeal

Well Maria is not real, this ending only symbolizes that James didnt learned anything in all his journey through hell, he keeps trying to escape, that's why Maria starts coughing, because he will never be able to change what he did
