The original still proves superior. The screaming from those industrial saws and that sadness inducing choir is just far more impactful than the remake's version of this soundtrack. The other makes the player's adrenaline rush through their veins in it's themes of determination, which is epic in its own right. But this one- this one hits the player in the soul with the mechanical sounds of pain, depression and madness.

One represented the old blood, the past and regret, while his brother represented new blood, and the sacrifice of forgetting all the pain. The both torment you to make you remember what sins you've commited in your past and remind you that you can't run from your past. That's why one is covered in brown, dried blood, and the other is covered in fresh blood. This also explains the color of the eggs you collect from them. Their suicide means that you understand why they came and they relize you don't need them anymore. You've remembered yourself and know what it takes to change. SYMBOLISM EXPLAINED!
@markcobuzzi8268 жыл бұрын
To add to the symbolism, do you think it would be really neat if they ever did a proper adaptation of Silent Hill 2 and had the same actor, who would play James Sunderland, dress up as Pyramid Head, to have the monster's footage spliced with James'? That way, when people look behind the scenes and realize that the actor was playing both characters, it would further solidify that Pyramid Head is a manifestation of his own repressed guilt and desire to punish himself, through suicide.
@melodyhines68068 жыл бұрын
Never thought like that. Cool!
@markcobuzzi8268 жыл бұрын
+Murder of Crows I think it would also work because Maria is a doppelganger of Mary, whom James sees being repeatedly killed by Pyramid Head. So if the same actor played both James and Pyramid Head, then it would be like James is watching himself kill Maria, reenacting his past crime against Mary even more accurately. And it would be an even more direct reminder of James' own temptations towards infidelity during his wife's illness, when he sees Pyramid Head assaulting the other monsters sexually.
@greywalker5057 жыл бұрын
Huh. Hero and villain played by the same actor.
@walkinglord5gaming6167 жыл бұрын
Melody Hines wait so the dried bloodied one is the one who represents James killing his wife in the past and the fresh bloodied one represents James's attempt to run away from his guilt. Cool. I think thats a pretty good symbolism theory.

Agonising fear, that heavy feeling of dread when someone brings up abuse you suffered and how much it still hurts. But the damage is done, there's nothing to fix, nothing but hatred and sorrow holding you up like burnt match sticks. You're beyond crying, past feeling sorry for yourself, nothing inside but pain. Blinding, numbing pain, it becomes hard to breath like you're inhaling smoke. The memories and flashbacks swell up like plumes of fire, your skin blisters as you walk further into the light. Fire is all you see, charring and blackening your skin. You can't run away, the memories cloud your judgement and engulf you. Nothing left, ash and soot darken everything, endless black. Nothing left, scattered to the four winds. So what did you think of the song? I'm curious to know, I want to see inside

The Game Knight's Bestiary Silent Hill Demons Pyramid Head Height: 6 foot, approx. Weight: Unknown Description Pyramid Head seems to be a high-ranking entity in the hierarchy of the demonic creatures that infest Silent Hill, Maine. A strange, perverse entity, he has a sickening desire to punish the sins of the townsfolk. I unfortunately know little else of this depraved demon. Physical Appearance In its physical appearance, he resembles a muscular man with a strange robe covering it's lower torso. But the most obvious and admittedly disturbing trait is that he wears a triangular, pyramid-shaped helmet, made of a strange ore I haven't seen in any game world. This helmet is the reason this entity is known as Pyramid Head. Personality This depraved and sickening creature lives to punish guilty humans in a disturbing and warped myriad of ways. He tends to manifest and revel in tormenting those who deserve punishment, by using more symbolic means as well as physical. His favorite method, to my horror, is to appear with a female Silent Hill demon and appeat to "assault" it to punish depraved sexual frustration, and push them along towards the next perverse punishment of the victims sins. But it serves to have the victim come to realize their guilt, crime and then repent for their sins. Noble, but a sickening way to go about it. Abilities: Teleportation(?) Superhuman strength Ability to sense guilt and sins Telepathic sight Hierarchy The Pyramid Head that James Sunderland fought seems to be the head of an entire species of Pyramid Heads. These executioners, also called Bogeymen, serve the same role as their patriarch. Tactics This demon and his spawn(?) tend to be rather slow, BUT they can sometimes be surprisingly quick. Because of his superhuman strength, he tends to wield a giant sword, oft called the Great Knife, with one hand, though it still requires effort. When he want's to fight faster, he wields the Great Spear, a staff that has sharp points on both ends. Both do immense damage, but are unwieldy for even him to use. In spite of being a demon, he is quite susceptible to conventional weaponry. He takes an unfortunately IMMENSE amount of damage before he can be defeated, though, so be careful. Strafe and run quickly, and you should have little trouble in vanquishing him. Most important, though, is this: REPENT. Pyramid Head hunts only thouse that have repressed guilt about horrible crimes and other darknesses within the soul. You admit your guilt, he won't come back to try and punish you. He may be twisted, but he doesn't go after innocents.

Unfortunately, I've never played any of the Silent Hill games. I will say, however, that after finding out what it really was, I have to put this game up there with Amnesia for defining what horror really means in a game. Outlast presented to us unfiltered explicity that tore our minds apart. Amnesia presented to us atmosphere and a monster we couldn't look at, but saw just enough to fear. Silent Hill presented to us the fear of what's inside of us, and I think, regardless of graphics, revenue, or budget, that is truly the most frightening; because while you may never walk into an insane asylum with sociopaths, or try to kill an extra-dimensional being who made you perform ritual sacrifices, you'll always face the reality of escaping and coping with the sins of your past. ~Ken

And when the day comes that I die he will be waiting for me, to guide me safely towards the afterlife for my eternal rest. as a "thank you" for his collection of negative things, when I was still alive. before he goes to find a new person to protect, and collect now from. or he stays/becomes this angel again if I ever got reincarnated so he can go back to the whole circle of collecting negativity again.

I don’t find this theme particularly scary. Granted I’ve never played the game, I just think this sounds cool
@solaire22714 жыл бұрын
You gotta keep in mind people are listening to this while running for their lives in the game, and the machine sound constantly reminds you of the giant metal cleaver dragging after you.

It's not intended to be scary. It's a boss fight theme that takes place after the main character has overcome his fear, well more so guilt, but fear of his past and future. The soundtrack can be scary when it needs to be, but most times, it's calming or just sad.

The weirdest and coolest . . . Other than that, it makes sense. Idk, but I find it low pacing and soothing.

Despite the mechanical sounds, the song is strangely calming

And I thought this was the final boss fight, probably due to the music and sound effects. It’s just too much for me to take in.

Okay why the fuck wasn't this used in DbD as chase music, it's brilliant.

I disagree, while this is a great song it doesn't give off that pursuit vibe that the current version has.

Listening to this kinda makes me sad that Silent Hill 2 didn't have more Other World environments. It is one of the few big complaints about the series.

Weird if you remember that people didn't like it that much when it released in 2001. Tool the public view a few months/years to understand the game
