Nice job on getting those shots off on a 20+ knot task force. Good thing you dived when you did as you were about a minute away from them being right on top of you! Just some historical notes, the only Leander class cruiser that was in the Mediterranean at this time was HMS Ajax which was just about to leave for the UK for a four month refit (she took the long route from the Indian Ocean around the Cape of Good Hope however). All the other Leander cruisers were either in the Pacific or already sunk at this time. You could claim some revenge for the Graf Spee with this sinking as Ajax was one of the three ships that cornered her in Montevideo. A more plausible scenario (if you pretend these were Dido instead of Leander cruisers) would be you ambushing the covering force for Operation MF5, which was an attempt to send three transports worth of supplies to Malta from Alexandria while picking up 4 empty merchants that were stuck in Malta. Historically, this took place from February 12-16 and ended with the British turning back after losing 2 of the 3 transports and a destroyer to heavy air attack. The makeup of the covering force (3 Dido class cruisers and 8 destroyers) actually resembles the makeup of what you encountered in this video pretty well.

I got a version of 5 I modded and have only I think done a few training missions on. Sub stuff is hard. What I think it was called silent service 2 I played a lot of I remember getting presidential unit citation sinking carriers and battleships in full hardness mode. Killing the destroyer was my main strategy and I was still successful with realistic torps (later in war) etc. Man do you get killed a lot though hehe.

I just watched this video today. The sinking of that battleship was truly satisfying I must confess 😊. The cat and mouse game of evading the pursuing destroyer was quite thrilling. It reminded me a bit of the good old Das Boot. Please keep sinking the big ass Tommy battleships if you happen to come across them to avenge the sinking of the Bismark. It’s always much more satisfying to sink heavily armed battleships than unarmed cargo vessels I have to admit. Please keep up the good work. Good hunting!

Nice catch and great video as always! Although I've never played SH3 since I've never really cared for U-Boats and thus prefer SH4 and the US subs, these are always a treat to watch and make me want to try it out. I've been watching your sub careers for a long time and I'm curious if you've ever thought about doing a SH4 series as the British with the We Dive at Dawn mod? I believe that the Royal Navy's submarines are underrepresented with the U-Boats (for obvious reasons) and to a lesser extent, US subs being always in the limelight, and I think it would be neat to see the British side of things some day.

For me, new games feels like scripted. In AOD or SH3 you can roam the seas freely. The world seems more alive. TL;DR: you can make more choices. Risky with big outcomes, play safe or just follow the mission orders.

Anyone know how those Deck Guns didn't just rust to nothing given how often they were submerged in to salt water?
@Munky332 Жыл бұрын
They were made of metals that are corrosion resistant (ie copper/nickel, stainless steel, bronze), and obviously where paint could be applied it was, but also a fuckton of TLC -- ie constantly greasing the ever living shit out of everything, plugging the barrel, etc. They still rusted a bit though, you can see some photos of boats that had been around longer where there is pitting/rust forming on the guns (usually seen as dark spots in B&W photos), though Germany started removing deck guns later in the war.

Hey man! I've been watching your Silent Hunter series for a bit now, and I decided to try it myself. I got the OneAlex mod downloaded and all that, but I was wondering if you use any othe rmods? Such as how you get the full interior? Also my targetting computer looks different, even in full manual mode. I cant seem to get the range to appear, or the U-Jagd. Any help is appreciated from anyone, as I really wanna get into this game! It's not as intuitive as Uboat, but the extra realism is what I want. The sinking physics and such are so good.
@warb0y420 Жыл бұрын
U-Jagd was removed from onealex due to not being used on uboats, they were an ASW device used by Kriegsmarine escorts/patrol craft to time depth charges on allied subs. He uses an extra mod called WAC 5.0 Full Interiors but it does hurt game stability when you use it with other mods.
