Man, the corvette crew was on crack LOL. It’s really funny in this game how sometimes you’ll just get these insane crews and it’s just a canoe, but the big, scary, modern destroyers you’ll give the slip easy.

I gotta say Wolfpack, your silent hunter 3 videos will always have a special place in my heart. I found your channel while your Type IX career was still ongoing. I had just moved out of the homeless shelter that I had been staying at for the last 2 years. It was a glorified crack den and I never felt safe there. It was a violent crazy uncomfortable place. I finally got a windfall and moved all the way across the country to the house I currently live in. I didn't have a proper internet connection so I bought a high data phone plan and binge watched your Type IX career start to finish. I'll never forget those first few weeks of finally feeling safe and secure, finally being able to stop worrying for my safety and relax. Your calm voice and immersive storytelling, not to mention skill and fun gameplay really helped me take my mind off things and adjust to normality again after a horrible few years. I would watch your videos and just feel an overwhelming calm, like I knew everything was finally gonna be ok. Your relaxing demeanour really meant a lot to me in that moment and still does today Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for the good vibes in all your videos. Every now and then watching your videos takes me back to those first few weeks, and I still get that calming, relaxing sensation even now. Thanks for all the great content over the years, here's hoping for many more Oh and you inspired me to play SH3 myself now and absolutely love the game haha! Cheers Wolfpack, much love

I used to often get in gunfights with corvettes. Once head-on, I would go full astern to keep the closing rate low. I always had better accuracy at range.

That’s why you use armor piercing shells and aim for the waterline. Just a few holes in the right spot and those pesky corvettes take a fast trip straight down

uboats didn't carry AP shells irl so many mods (including the one Alex one used here) remove them

The wave bounce was throwing off the guns. You either have to pick to fire at the top of the boat bounce or bottom to get consistent ranging when walking your shots. Love the series, too bad about not getting that transport, but at least you bagged (kinda) a corvette.

In reading some older books on the topic, a common ploy of Allied warships hounding UBoats would be to make fake runs, keep the Uboat guessing and conserve ammo for a longer hunt; eventually forcing the Uboat to surface. Great series!

So i recently got the same mod wolf is using here. I fired four torps at a convoy last night just north of Ireland. Just as the last eel left my tube the Luftwaffe showed up and ruined everything. All four missed when they all broke formation and they didnt get a kill to justify it.

Both Uboat and Sh3 don’t do the best job modeling the rattling inside uboats when depth charges are exploding. I wish they worked on that, would be great immersion to get a screen shake when the depth charges are close. Only time it shakes violently in Uboat is when it’s game over basically which is not historically accurate.

If you have been detected from around 2 km, I found better success cutting the speed of the target to 2/3 to 1/2 of the original value to account for zig-zag and slowing speed.

That Corvette crew, it's almost like they hated u? For the first 15 minutes kinda going 'get the Germans' but then I'm rooting for the 'underdog' and then this Corvette is excellently crewed by guys that don't sleep and I'm thinking, well you have a 75 mm gun? If you land a few shots it won't matter that they have a 4.7 inch gun, it wont be working any more? You will stick three shells into them before they can even guess your range? It actually happened and submarine gun crews were awesome, they had to be 'on the spot' from the start, with the boat rising and falling, they had a certain distance that they would stick a shell in the bridge or exactly along the waterline, definitely get your attention.

it mildly annoyed me that y didnt take into account the fact that after being spotted the enemy ships start turning and thus their speed gets reduced. whenver y do get spotted strike 3-4 knots off whatever speed y initially had set for the merchant y were firing at

THIS is why this and SH4 are so superior to the Uboat game. The white-knuckle suspense of combat. There is nothing like having warships attack you and you have to desperately fight or maneuver your way out of the situation, not knowing whether you are going to survive or not. In Uboat, there is very little of this. Getting away from warships in that game is simple child's play. That's why I always come back to SH3 and SH4 time and time again even after so many years of playing them both to death!

A very guilty pleasure of mine, these U-boat game episodes. Well done, citizen. Good editing and narration. Given the main characters are … like … you know … genocidal Nazi fascists (ideological militaristic economic autarkic imperialists ) have you ever considered doing a running series of episodes from the U-Boat hunter game mwhose name escapes now? A Nazi sinking … destroyer I assume … antifascist series? It would provide a little ideological relief from all the real fascism we’ve got filling our lives and brains from the other media these days. Just a thought. You do such a good job with these episodes.
